Title: Beanpot: BU 5 Harvard 3
Post by: ninian '72 on February 06, 2006, 11:21:18 PM
Beanpot win bumps BU up into 4th place PWR tie with Cornell. BC right behind in 6th.  No matter what happens tomorrow night, looks like we can kiss top four good-bye for now.

I hate Harvard sooooooo much.

Do you think that they just engrave "Boston" on the trophy in advance of the tournament now and just wait to fill in the second word?

The BU/BC game isn't until next Monday - it's a funny litte tournament they run there in Boston.  So there will be plenty of other shuffling before then.

What the Hell kind of fans are these?  Is Sucks fandom contagious to BU?  So much for what some of you were saying about big rivals.  From the USCHO recap:

Terrier coach Jack Parker said. "... And then in the third period, the crowd left; the enthusiasm in the building was kind of low, and our enthusiasm went down. And we thought the game was over..."

"The better part of the Garden crowd cleared out during the second intermission ... and missed a suspenseful ending."

Maybe Bill Cleary can answer some of these why-Harvard-sucks type of questions in tomorrow's uscho chat! :-P

They had nobody to root for and rooting against a team isn't as much fun when it is clear that they are going to win.

He doesn't need to worry.  He has a future as President of Hair Club For Men.

Bill Cleary seems to indicate his job is safe.

[q]Jack (Brookline): Coach, do you think Harvard hockey will ever be able to assemble the talent you did in the 80's and early 90's?
Coach Cleary: I certainly hope so. If anyone can do it, it is Ted Donato. He is a tremendous man and already is an outstanding coach. I think he will attract many good players to Harvard. In fact, I think he has already done an outstanding job against the best programs in the country in his first year and a half in the position.[/q]

It would be hard to imagine Cleary not giving Donato at least 5 years or so to make an impact.  There's the usual grace period for new coaches, getting their own players in place etc.  Plus he's an alum and a well known one.

Now, if the number you were thinking of was somewhere around 1500, then maybe it's possible.
