Presumably, we are rooting for NU.

Unfortunately, I presume the same thing and I'll be rooting for Harvard too. Looks like 24 will be cheering me up tonight... ::looking::
8:36 of the first, BC scores into a virtually open net, after NU had been playing pretty well. 1-0.
BC 2-0 on an NU breakdown in the D zone. It's still early. Uh oh.
And BC goes up 2-0... and is now going on the PP.
And it gets uglier for NorthLeastern
3-zip on a Collins goal. "Turn out the liiiiiiiiiiights, the party's over..."
End of first period.
Stop the bleeding!!
Beeeej
Sorry if this was already mentioned....but for those with access, beanpot game is currently on NESN. :-)
USCHO reports say NU is stinking up the joint.
USCHO reports say NU is stinking up the joint.
In other news, the sun rose in the east this morning...
LOL ::laugh::
NU couldn't even get a *shot* on 5x3. Their announcers are very dry -- they say things like "offense by accident." Either they've made peace with their fate or they're on mild sedatives.
Saints preserve us, NU hath scored.
15 mins to go after teams trade goals in the third, 4-2.
SHG BC.. 5-2, 9:30 left in the third.
And that's a wrap. Looks like another BC-BU final. ;-)
SHG BC.. 5-2, 9:30 left in the third.
And the game ended with that score.
As a bonus between games, NESN will be showing Teddy Rogaine's "The Price Is Right" appearance.
Well that didn't take long... 1-0 BU ::rolleyes::
Well that didn't take long... 1-0 BU ::rolleyes::
Less than 2 minutes in and it's 1-0 and BU going on the PP. Fantastic...
2-1 BU in the 2nd
3-1 BU now on a one timer to the midget... 4:28 remaining in the 2nd
Harvard is frickin' useless.
Harvard is frickin' useless.
... and make that 4-1 BU on another PP

It was a textbook Cornell PP play. And scored by Schaeffer.
The goal is under review... potential goaltender interference...
it was as 5x3, btw
... The goal stands
BU player falls into his own goalie and Harvard gets it home, 4-2 with 13:30 remaining.
Harvard with a quick wrist shot from the circle... one goal game with 2:21 left...
Go Harvard? or Go Sleep? I have to get up at 6 am tomorrow ::yark::
0:22 left, Harvard with chances, BU with some empty net opportunities...
still 6x5...
ENG BU, with 7 seconds remaining
Well, we learned what Harvard is good for... sleep :-P

So do crease violations only happen in the ECAC? I know the NHL changed the rules to make Dallas's Cup appear legit, but I thought that in college you were still not allowed to be in the crease before the puck. And even if there's some crap about being irrelevant to the play, this guy was setting a screen inside the crease. :-(
I don't think its irrelevant to the play, I think its "not interfering with" or some such. What standard that means exactly is unclear.
harvard looked pretty flat the entire game and only in the last 5 minutes did they show any shreds of desperation, which lead to a ton of shots and a good amount of pressure. the key to beating harvard is to score early and keep a tight D on. the TV reported that only twice in their last 10 games have they managed more than 2 goals (including tonight).

I believe it was this year that the NCAA changed the rules to be more in line with those of the NHL. I think they are not supposed to call in the crease unless it affects the goalies ability to make a save.

Given the ECAC's more defensive style of hockey, and given that we've (as a conference) had some of the best goalies in college hockey over the past ~5 years (East 1st and 2nd team AA last year including two Hobey finalists, East 1st team AA in 2004 including a Hobey finalist, East 1st team AA in 2003 including a guy who should've won the Hobey, East 1st and 2nd team AA in 2002), it seems logical that the ECAC might choose to interpret a rule in a manner that would play to the strengths of that talent base, thereby increasing the profile of those players, thereby increasing the profile of the league.

In that case, what does the crease matter? You can't interfere with the goalie inside the privileged area at all, right?
