Title: The Murph
Post by: Josh \'03 on October 21, 2002, 07:44:07 PM
Hey--

Luckilly for us, blind & deaf Murphy (the referee) will no longer be blowing calls at our games on a weekly basis.  Just read an article on USCHO.com that he's in the CCHA now, and Merrimack's coach called him incopetent after their games this weekend, and apparantly everyone's mad at him.

Instead of defending quacks like Murphy, maybe they should consider the fact that he really is one of the most useless refs who unduly influences the outcomes of games with his lowsy calls?  I wonder if the ECAC showed him the door, or if he was so tired from the taunts he got at our arenas that he left himself.

I do have the right Murphy, I hope, that I've been yelling at at Lynah for the last 3 years.

Dan is the sucky one.
John is (was) the good one.

John was also, I believe, the ECAC's senior ref.  Dunno who that will be now.

John Murphy is as good a ref as we have (had) in the ECAC.  As long as you can get past the fact that he doesn't call a LOT of penalties, he calls things consistently.  Dan Murphy (who called Red/White) was always inconsistent, IMO.
