This from a buddy at Starr Rink--the Big Red just came out for the skate around minus hockey jerseys--wearing long sleeve shirts & pads---looks like equipment snafu...McLeod is driving up with the unis.....altho, of course, the team could outfit itself with sweaters from the Faithful up there to watch the game (!)

7:06 face off time because of the game being televised.  The Cornell players socks and something else that I couldn't make out did not come with them and are en route and should arrive momentarily.

Excitement already!

Apparently SLU is playing their walk-on goalie tonight against QU.  There is much discussion on the ECAC score thread on USCHO.  To wit, "well, we're probably hosed anyway..."

I thought SLU showed some dangerous strenches in the Lynah game.  I'm shocked they've gone into freefall.

If they had gone through with using the "Faithful's Jerseys", somehow I do not think the guys would be comparing notes on whose jersey they got. The pre-game chatter probably would not have included things like: "Hey cool, I got the trumpet player's jersey" or "Shoot, I wish I had gotten that red-haired guy's jersey". :-D

One snippet I heard on the broadcast was the the jerseys were getting a police escort for at least part of the Ithaca - Hamilton trip.

True.
But when the previous year's jerseys go on sale there is always a flurry of posts about who got whose (or is it who's) jersey, why it is significant to them, and inquiries as to what person got the jersey/# they really wanted.

I just found it interesting that the equipment even thought of asking the fans for the jerseys in first place.

As much as I loathe that idea, it's still better than having to forfeit.  I still think we should have taken up a collection of jerseys from the crowd of Cornell fans present last night.  There would have been a few repeated numbers, but I could have told you personally that Chris Abbott's jersey would have been accurate. :-D

The team forgetting stuff isn't actually that new. I can recall several times when the band had to load random forgotten equipment (sticks, dryers, helmets, food, Teeter's rings come to mind)for road trips because the team forgot it. Usually the team leaves early enough to notice before the band takes off, but for Colgate the time difference isn't as great. Of course I can't remember any time the jerseys were the forgotten item.

Devin -
Maybe true for road games - but I make every home game with the #15 Red jersey Pegs  wore in the home exhibition game and then auctioned - name plate is   for Steve Giuliani class of 1970  and all frozen four first teamer in 1970.
[Q]15 - Steve Giuliani (1967-70, W/D - 11-73-84) [/Q]
Also see a White 15 jersey at home games on town side regularly -
Go Pegs -  Go BIG RED!

My guess is that forgetting the jerseys was somehow a product of it being a home and home weekend. I'm guessing normally they just load up the jerseys on Friday afternoon before they leave and forget about it, so having to get different jerseys on saturday led to someone forgetting.

Yeah, I'm sure they have a very distinct procedure they follow on a regular road weekend. Being the home and home, and a short trip, its easy to not take the 'routine' so seriously and forget things. Still, it was pretty amusing.

Here's a question for people at the game... did you have any idea what was going on? Other than those of you who may've been asked for jerseys personally :). Or was it just some unspecified delay?

The man on the PA was a dick and made sure to announce it around 7:00 when Colgate was skating around waiting for the anthems, but there was no Cornell team.  He said it with such tone that it was clear he was trying to goad the Colgate fans into yelling something derisive about it.  Not that I blame them, who knows what we'd have done at Lynah if some other team forgot their jerseys?

I had my TiVo run out before the end of the 1st round NCAA game against tOSU. I was out of town for the weekend, so I didn't know the results of the tOSU or Minnesota games. When the recording ran out, Cornell was still losing by a goal. I had to cross my fingers and hit play on the Minnesota game to see if they were playing in it. There are few things stranger than maniacally cheering the opening frame of a telecast.
Here's a question for people at the game... did you have any idea what was going on? Other than those of you who may've been asked for jerseys personally :). Or was it just some unspecified delay?
I was at the game, and Matt Moulson's dad came and asked my fiancee and me to borrow our (non-game worn) jerseys, but said they just needed them for the warm-up. It was the only shirt I had on, so I declined, since it wasn't critical, but of course my fiancee, who had on a shirt underneath the jersey, happily obliged. About five to ten minutes later her jersey was returned, with the explanation that they would not be using them. A few minutes later the team came out for the skate around, jersey-less. So anyone who was there for the skate around, (and I think that was just about everyone), and had at least half a brain would have known that the delay involved the jerseys. Of course the half a brain part explains why most of the Colgate fans didn't understand what was going on, but that's another topic entirely.
