Time for horrible sound, even more horrible announcers. Should be fun. ::yark::
Krantz hits the post on a spin-around shot on the very first rush!
a fast start...
brown with a chance that wasn't much of one due to good backchecking by mugford. cornell came right back and krantz hits the post....
Now Pegs and Cam combine and nearly score as D'Alba is faked outta his jock.
Cam rolls it in off the face and D'Alba has to cover again. Good start.
4th line with great movement as Scott and Barlow control the play. Still no score, but a wide advantage for Cornell thus far.
Pressure pays off, Tyler draws a penalty. Cornell pp.
Goal!!!! :D
Can't hear who, thanks crappy Brown Audio.
Sweet Goal by Moulson on the PP. Going down on the backhand.

Tyler draws another call, but CU can't convert.
Cornell going on kill.
Good news: it could be 5-0 already.
Bad news: it isn't.
CU shot lead of 7-1, and it's probably even more imbalanced than that. But they can't let up.
Did anyone just lose the video feed?
I lost it, not just you
Did anyone just lose the video feed?
Yes. What else is new?
Yes, CSTV just shat the bed again. A quality service.
Colgate 0 Yale 0, halfway through the 1st.
I was just going to say how the feed wasn't choppy for the first time ever for me.
Oh well...
Audio working for the time being... no video yet...
Gleed an elbow, Brown pp #2.
Good. I thought the dog ran over a weakly connected Ethernet cable. So it's not me. Between a moderate-IQ terrier and CSTV, it was unfair to blame bowser.
SLU 1 Clarkson 0, late first.
Anyone got the email for these birds handy?
Shit. Seminoff penalty, 5x3.
Video working right now.
Seminoff for boarding. It is now an official Cornell hockey game.
2-man disadvantage for Cornell right now.
video is back
Naturally, it came back as I was on the phone with them. :P
Kyle
Video feed sucks again. Even when it's on. And they need a taller tripod. Also, what's that shipping case in the way every time the camera pans to the west end goal?
The announcers are at their best during commercials: "Brown in no way is keeping up with Cornell." Why don't they say it live? What do they think the station is paying them good money for - platitudes? (OK, maybe not such good money. But still.)
I miss last week's color man. He spoke his mind, right or wrong.
1 16:32 Brn pp LeCain (Vokes)
The Brown broadcast sounds like Harry Potter speaking snake language.
End of 1. Tied at 1.
I miss last week's color man. He spoke his mind, right or wrong.
I'm not sure, but I think this is the same guy (Cole).
Do visitor goals count if they're scored during a Webcast blackout?
The Brown broadcast sounds like Harry Potter speaking snake language.
Had to turn it off, couldn't hear a thing.
Beach ball on the ice.
Do visitor goals count if they're scored during a Webcast blackout?
The question is, if a visitor scores a goal, but Arthur doesn't record it, did it happen?
Anyone else having problems with the free audio? Mine is all choppy and garbled. Not like a bad internet connection, but as if the place they are broadcasting to is slightly out of range.
chris and cam for 4 more years !!!!
(chris was the first period intermission guest, cam was on last? week).
I'm really going to miss them, :`( and yes, i will recall chris (and cam) as someone who always skated his hardest and gave it their all.
the first time i saw them play was in florida their freshman year and they were all over the ice hustling....and making things happen.
hopefully, they can make some goals happen tonight....
Two interesting backchannel points from the radio crew "off the air":
1. Cornell has "the goalie recruit they want" in attendence tonight. I assume that's Theissen.
2. Feola and Scott Hanson are refing the Olympics. Who'd'a'thunk?
The color guy's voice sounds different from last week's sub.
Another off-the-air (they thought) moment:
"They've [Cornell] got a goalie recruit here they really want."
"Where's he from?"
"[pause] Don't know."
2 01:06 Brn Slais (Prough)
This is really getting ugly. the game seemed to be in complete control until someone took a "retaliation" penalty and then shortly after it became a 5x3. Dumb penalties will kill you in a game you should win, and this is beginning to resemble the Union fiasco.
We're not doing a very good job of impressing our prized goalie recruit.
McKee looks bad.
sasha has found a home on the left point during pp!!!!....
3-2 brown, sasha's goal came just after the brown penalty expires....
and a save by Mckee on slaice (sp?) t0 keep it a 1 goal game...
2 09:16 Cor Pokulok 4 (Bitz 13, Barlow 5)
come on red! no more silly penalties and take it to them!
LGR!
And even once more.
(Again, can't hear who, Brown feed is horrible)
yes, sasha on the point.
gets an assist on pegararo's (?) goal.....
And even once more.

yeah, carefoots pp goal. multi-tasking is hard work... ::nut::
And that's the end of 2 periods.
Are you physically unable to get the video feed, or just too damn cheap? It's like five, six bucks, man. That's a cheap date, and Cornell has already scored three times.
As Brown goes from down 1-0 to up 3-1, Elizabeth Kubler Ross' five stages of dying coming to mind as it might translate to Cornell hockey:
1. Oh, bleep, there goes McKee's shutout, and this is about the best chance he's got as the season winds down.
2. Brown goes ahead. We're in a bit of trouble.
3. oh, double bleep, Brown's ahead by two goals. And the game isn't going to help the team and goalie GAA.
4. Is this Dartmouth all over again? Are we about to get blown out ... in our home rink?
Fortunately, it didn't get to stage five (acceptance of our fate) ... but, sheesh. We're the fifth-ranked, if not fifth-best, college hockey team in America.
Easy to say when not spending 50,000 a year on law school, and am waiting 3 more years for an income.
Are you physically unable to get the video feed, or just too damn cheap? It's like five, six bucks, man. That's a cheap date, and Cornell has already scored three times.
OTOH, if you're fifty large in the hole, what's another $6.95? It's like one joint, man, and Cornell hockey doesn't give you the munchies.
Maybe the ancient and wealthy alumni (hah!) such as Al and me should underwrite a Jerry's Kids kind of video feed scholarship for you and other grad students.
I don't want to hear anyone without a mortgage and children cry poverty. Ever.
You know, if they are going to call "interference" on faceoffs, why not call it everytime instead of at random points in the 3rd period of a tied hockey game?
Great kill by CU.
O'B draws a boarding. CU pp upcoming.
come on red!
anyone else get a superslow response to be able to type when they click on the message area???? strange
3-3 tie going into the third is lots of time for Cornell to pull it out. 3-3 tie with 10:00 left ... you wonder ... which Cornell is playing the last ten minutes, the Cornell that struggles to eke out 2 goals a game, or the one that can light the lamp at will?
My posts are slow to be accepted, too. Lot of visitors but not a record for eLynah (66 now vs. what 150 for the playoffs or a Harvard game?).
6:50 in reg.
5:37 4x4. Cmon twins.
4x4 play let's hope the abbotts can pull it off
The Abbotts do a good job on their 4x4 shoft on D, and O'B and Pokulok looking good.
4X4 over.
Do the woofing gods allow you to pray it doesn't end as a tie?
Is the video frozen for anyone else?
EDIT: just reloaded, its ok.
Almost gave it away with :13 in reg.
Going to ot. Shots are 32-23.
Going to OT. Looks dim for Cornell for a 2-point night. This should've been a guaranteed win night. If such a thing is possible in the ECAC.
chris abbott for the win!!!!
woo hoo!
McKee is a Golden God in OT, and Chris seals it.
That was fun
Woooo!
Fourth GWG for Abbott this year.
Edit: goal scored by Mugford.
Phew.
jason just said the goal is mugfords.... doesn't matter as long is is was someone wearing white tonight
jason just said the goal is mugfords.... doesn't matter as long is is was someone wearing white tonight
How much would it cost CSTV to have a minimum wage college or high school student in Ithaca or Palo Alto or whatever staffing a PC-based instant replay machine? Seven bucks an hour? Those bums.
Colgate also wins in OT and Clarkson beats SLU.
As the travel partners move out in front of the league:
.808 Colgate (10-2-1)
.731 Cornell (9-3-1)
.615 St. Lawrence (8-5-0)
.577 Dartmouth (7-5-1)
.567 Harvard (8-6-1)
doesn't matter as long is is was someone wearing white tonight
I wouldn't have cared if brown had put it in themselves...
True enough.... i did kind of think of that... the tigers definitely owe one of those....

It very well could have been Theissen. His team played last night but he didn't dress http://www.bchl.bc.ca/leagues/hockey_boxScores.cfm?clientID=1413&leagueID=2393&gameID=233714. If he was there, he picked a great game to experience the Lynah atmosphere. I didn't see him but will keep my eye out for him tonight.
There was a kid following around Davenport prior to the game which I didn't recognize. My first reaction was it's probably a recruit.
The kid I saw last night looks a lot like the photo of Brad the BCHL has :-)

Nice:-) I figured after we got Scrivens that we'd be done looking at Theissen. Both Scrivens and Theissen are 86' birthdays and I find it hard to believe that either one of them would agree to come in 2007. Would Schafer have 4 goalies on the roster next year?
Would Schafer have 4 goalies on the roster next year?
This would be assuming McKee stays...

Considering his play this season, I don't think that assumption is at all unrealistic.
Would Schafer have 4 goalies on the roster next year?
I'm actually wondering if this says more about Dan DiLeo than anything else. I believe he has dressed for one single game all year, in a game when Chabot didn't dress (I guess he was sick). I thought I heard DiLeo was injured at the beginning of the season, but I have to believe that's been rectified by now. If Schafer isn't seeing fit to dress him as a secondary backup for games, I have to wonder if DiLeo actually has a future with the team. Is there something I'm missing here?

You brought up what I was hinting at. Like I said earlier, I can't believe McKee will be anywhere other than Ithaca next season. I guess we'll wait and see what happens with Theissen. If he doesn't choose Cornell this could all be a moot point.
We all hope David McKee stays all four years. However, he is no spring chicken. Isn't he the same age as David LeNeveu, gave or take a couple months? Someone completing college at 24 or 25 doesn't have as many pro years looking him in the face as, say, Sidney Crosbie.
Are there other influences? His family is comfortable, so it's not as if David needs to turn pro a year early to pay back his tuition loans. And OTOH, he is not as dependent as some of us on our Cornell degrees to earn a living.
The entire Mckee family - not just David - has been great for Cornell hockey. His father attends more games than Mike Teeter (this year - not lifetime - that's a record that won't be beaten).
His father attends more games than Mike Teeter (this year - not lifetime - that's a record that won't be beaten).
Arthur's going to give it a shot. :-)
His father attends more games than Mike Teeter (this year - not lifetime - that's a record that won't be beaten).
I've seen Pokulok's father at every game this season I've attended (including road games). I hope this bodes well for Sasha's prospects of returning next season.
just a guess, but we there a rule change about dressing 2 goalies instead of 3? everyone used to dress three, now they only dress two, anyone know anything about this?

On the other hand, the average goaltender takes many more years to develop than a skater, and many hit their NHL stride at 29-30 years old.

A few of our opponents this season have dressed three goalies for the game, or so collegehockeystats says. So I'm guessing it's not a rule change.

I believe McKee just turned 21, so age shouldn't be a factor if he stays for his final year.
I believe McKee just turned 21, so age shouldn't be a factor if he stays for his final year.
Actually, he just turned 22 this past November.
My bad, I could have sworn I was at Dunbars the night he turned 21 this semester - either that or the semesters are starting to run together :-P
