Gametracker shows McCutcheon out, Kindret in; O'Byrne out, Salmela in; and DiLeo backing up McKee.
McKee is in (of course). Gleed is still out.
7:02, Video is up.
The game started, then got reset to 20:00 and now is underway
Gametracker says Gleed is in. Hmm...
thanks for the updates..at the philly airport waiting for my flight to ithaca. I love my ppc-6700 windows mobile phone + unlimited data plan :)
no quicktime plugin for it thougt..so can't listen!
Was their a singer for the anthem? Sounded like it.
McKee is in (of course). Gleed is still out.
I hear Gleed's name being called....you certain he's out?
He's in. It was a mis-statement in the pregame.
O'Byrne, McCutcheon, Chabot out according to Jason.
Barlow with a good chance early; Sawada with a big hit.
Delayed penalty on Cornell. So far SLU has a slight edge, but Cornell has had the more physical game.
McC apparently hurt. At Princeton?
Seminoff and Cam with nice plays on the kill.
PP coming
Cornell pp upcoming. Kindret almost with a great deflect in front off Barlow shot. Kindret really seems to have touch.
Now 5x3 for 1:50!
Score!
Pokulok!
Wow, the camera was way to zoomed in, only saw it go in, didnt see the actual shot.
Another PP
4x4
Glover to box, 3x4 then 3x5 the 4x5 I think (???).
4x3
"You are so gutless chippy" These guys are funny already.
2 mins boarding on Glover
Damn. 1-1
Dumb penalty to take in the offensive zone.
Looking a little tentative since the penalties.
End of 1st, 1-1.
As guessed, lotsa penalties, and that gave us the only notable action.
Both teams seem to be playing conservatively.
Score updates from the USCHO Board:
RPI 0, Brown 0 (after 1)
Colgate 0, Clarkson 0 (after 1)
Quinnipiac 2, RIT 0 (after 1)
No word on Union/Yale or Sacred Heart/Dartmouth.
From the same source:
Yale 1
Union 0
Last five SOG for SLU.
Pokulok replacing O'Byrne at the point on pp tonight, and he looked pretty good.
PP looking great, with a goal waved off (after the whistle).
We can't count.
how much time left?
Cornell kills the too many men. I'd guess we're about 7 mins into per 2.
last i heard was 12:12 left
Kennedy!!! Good freshmen. ;-)
Barlow with the assist
Really gorgeous goal. We don't get many of those.
Gorgeous goal -- odd man rush, he split the D, and then got off a perfect backhand.
Cornell outshooting SLU 8-2 so far this period.
Kennedy, Kindret, and Barlow nearly net another one. They're the line of the game.
Love the SLU announcer on this. "Now Topher Scott falls down because he's 20 pounds."
PP Cornell. :-P
Now a nice rush by Glover leads to Topher drawing and interference call. Cornell pp.
Pokulok!!! Assist from Sawada and Scott.
3-1 Red
I miss second periods like this.
Sasha has a new job. The pp has been outstanding, every time out, tonight. Pokulok and Moulson give them too much to worry about.
Period over, 3-1. That was the best period I've seen all year.
Cornell has a lot more player movement on the power play tonight than it had in its first 17 games. I think that's the key to the improved power play.
Each goalie had a great save in that period. The puck squirted out in front of McKee from behind the net and Parker one-timed it, and Dave blocked it. Then Barlow picked up a drop pass from Cam and sailed in untouched, and Pesony deflected it just wide and high.
Great play Abbott (?) to Barlow who had slipped behind the SLU defense, took the puck, took a step, and shot high ... but, sheesh, what a beautiful play, and scared the bejesus out of the SLU defense.
Yep, we need more second periods like this. Too bad we couldn't have done this last week in Princeton.
Maybe the freshmen and sophomores just got lucky tonight, but it sure augurs well for the future, the future including the last dozen games of the regular season.
Tried watching the the game webcast tonight on a 67" set I'm trying out. Know what? The picture looks pretty good ... if you stand in the kitchen, 30 feet back, and watch through the doorway. About the same as sitting three feet back and watching on the PC. Only so much technology can do for a Web feed.
Seminoff scores 17 seconds into the period!!!!
"Marginal call" on Pokulok. Delay of game; SLU gets 8th PP.
Penalty on Pokulok for throwing the puck. The SLU announcers think the call was sketchy, but I guess I shouldn't complain.
Make-up call; 4x4 followed by CU PP.
4-2:-(
Beautiful play by Trevelyan, 4-2.
Cornell goes back on PP. Let's get greedy.
Another Cornell pp. Guys on both sides are going down like debutantes.
LGR!!
still at the airport. flight from phily to ithaca delayed due to mech issues...
time left?
Must be 10:00. I hear tubas.
Shots 8-2 SLU this period after eight minutes.
6:56 to go
Pesony knocks his own net off for the stoppage.
6:24.
I'd like to see Parker race Topher.
4:40.
Cornell finally gets it out of our end for the first time in about 2 mins. Under 4:00 to go.
3:15. Faceoff in the Cornell end.
Abbott!!!! 5-2 ENG
Abbott gets an ENG. :-)
Cam with the ENG! 5-2 Red!!! at 17:10
That was a half-court shot.
2:39
Townies up.
A very solid win.
5 min major on SLU for spearing. No DQ according to the SLU announcers. 18:06.
Correction it was a DQ. DiVergilio (sp?)
Something about spearing....one of the SLU guys speared one of the Cornell guys and gets the DQ (no playing for him tomorrow).
Even the SLU radio guys are backing up the refs on this one.
Jason called it as a DQ.
I was thinking the Marsh time-out was to make sure SLU didn't goon it up late in the game. So much for that theory.
Mike gives the frosh a shot on the pp. And now Sasha will have his chance at the hat.
Couldn't have scripted that one much better.
Kevin DeVergilio, freshman, one of the Saints' higher scoring players with 10G (4PP) and 5A on the season in 21 games got the DQ for spearing.
Was our guy injured?
Good to see Kindret getting some ice time tonight.
Considering the result, I think we should see that freshmen line more often.
Short memory or what? After Abbott's quick ENG with 3:00 left, announcers rag St. Lawrence for pulling the goaltender with, what, 3:05 left, saying coaches figure 1 minute of empty net per goal you're behind. Didn't we see Cornell down 2-0 last Saturday at Princeton and David McKee come out with 3:30 to play? True, Princeton was in panic mode at that point and couldn't do much right (except keep the puck out of the net).
Lundin of Maine had a tough night. PC put 4 goals past him. His GAA was 1.26 after 11 games. This will bump him up around 1.52
Lundin of Maine had a tough night. PC put 4 goals past him. His GAA was 1.26 after 11 games. This will bump him up around 1.52
PC was all over Maine tonight. Goals, shots, faceoffs, you name it. It's clear why UMD handled Maine so easily in Florida.
Then Barlow picked up a drop pass from Cam and sailed in untouched, and Pesony deflected it just wide and high.
FWIW...I was at the game and had a perfect view of this. Barlow shot it just high--he had Pesony beat; it was not deflected.
Good to see Kindret getting some ice time tonight.
I've been very very impressed with Kindret. Looks a lot like Knoepfli to me - skates well, has good size, does the little things, but isn't at all flashy about it. It'll be tough for him to crack the lineup even next year with a couple more LWers coming in.
Since this hasn't yet been mentioned... Abbot's goal was INCREDIBLE. Shot from half court, went over everyone's heads, and made it in. I've never seen anything like it.
