Post by: Michael on December 23, 2005, 06:48:31 PM
Has anyone seen a list of whose wearing what number for the US Olympic hockey team. I'm going to be getting a jersey and I wanted to know what number Gionta will be.

Making sure you don't get his by accident?

hopefully the Olympic team's jerseys won't be as fugly as the WJC team's.

I'm not sure what the WJC jerseys look like, but the Olympic jerseys are indeed fugly.

I would buy a Ryan Miller Team USA jersey, but they decided they didn't want to take the best American goaltender to Italy next year  ::screwy::

Mike Richter is retired, I don't think he would've gone even if they'd decided they wanted him.  ;-)

Maybe they were concerned about Miller potentially having lingering effects from his injury?  If he was 100% I'd take him over DiPietro in a heartbeat.  (But then, I have a phenomenally low opinion of DiPietro.)

I agree on that one.  DiPietro has too high an opinion of himself.  No one else shares it except possibly Mike Millbury.  :-}

Those concerns should have been put to rest with Miller's 0.97 GAA and .967 save % in the two games he returned. The conspiracy theorists have posited that Team USA wanted to avoid a goaltender battle, so they didn't put Miller on the team.

Shouldn't this thread be moved to the OT room?

you can find some highlights at http://www.usahockey.com/

They're wearing these tight formfitting jerseys that just look awful.  The socks are even worse.

I've never liked Gionta - until this year.  He's getting a ton of scoring chances.  I didn't like him at BC but he's maturing into a good NHL player.  About the only player exceeding expectations on the Devils this year.

In 6 games since his injury, Ryan Miller is 5-1 with a sub 1.5 GAA and a .944 save %

Grahame was benched in favor of Sean Burke.

DiPietro continued his mediocre play and was hurt.

Esche continued to be Esche.
