Title: McKee: Win #50
Post by: RichH on December 03, 2005, 01:48:08 PM
Regardless of how we think he's playing in the early part of the season, the Princeton game write-up mentioned that it was his 50th career win, tying him with Brian Cropper for #2 all-time in school history.

For some perspective, with Coach Schafer getting win #206 (or #205, if you don't count his suspension at Yale), McKee has nearly 1/4 of the wins in the Schafer era, in just over 2 years.

Then again, there hasn't been a goaltender to have started every game in a season in this era until now, and one can argue that a goaltender's win total is heavily dependent on the quality of the team playing in front of him.  As David said himself: "My job as a goalie is to come in and give the team the best chance to win"

To answer the obvious question, Mr. Dryden has 76 career wins.  Should Cornell play in the final game of the NCAA tournament, there are potentially 26 games remaining in the season.  I'll leave the simple math as an exercise for the reader.  :-D

Forget 76.  I want him to catch Turco at 127!  Theoretically, he could have as many as 100 games remaining (18 RS to go this year + 8 playoff games, then 37 + 37 the next two years - I'm assuming that if we're doing that well, we'd be getting first-round ECAC byes).  He'd "only" have to go 77-23 in those games to get there.  HUGE challenge, for sure, but not completely out of the realm of possibility, either.

How sweet would that be - the all time wins leader from a school that only plays 29 games...

That'd be pretty impressive to get that 5th year by the NCAA too.  McKee's a Junior this year.

Okay. I'm an idiot...  I was trying to hit the road to make it to LA to watch the game and just wasn't thinking.
