Q drew 5k for their opener.  Pretty good.

The Brown announcer is ranting like a 3-year old and we're just 5 minutes in.  This could be fun...

"Alex Dell is a disaster who shouldn't be officiating ECAC games, the man is a travesty on the ice. This is awful, this is absolutely awful"

That's the first thing I hear on the Brown broadcast ::rolleyes::

USCHO seems to be down today, so I thought I'd update now and then here about the Colgate game.  Like your game against Brown, it is also chock full of penalties.  Through the first period with McDonald refereeing, there has been maybe 4 minutes of 5x5 action.

Colgate leads 3-0 at the end of the first.

This is ridiculous.  If I weren't so lazy, I'd find the post I made from last year saying the same exact thing, but I am, so I'll repeat:

When the service is free, I'm willing to put up with lots of bullshit and problems.

When I'm paying, I expect it to work, or I expect a refund.

I've got CSTV's feed now...but it's been cutting in and out (weird chunks of other announcers once in a while, squirrels on a keyboard, nothing hum...all in a random fashion...makes for rather frustrating listening).

Complaint sent to CSTV...for all the good that will do.

Fun to vent though.

well at least for once some announcers said what they really felt.  Nothing worse than a broadcaster trying to be *neutr* and watering down their opinions.  I don't think I have ever heard more vividly negative dexcriptions of refereeing, though I am sure many a broadcaster would like to do the same.

It's not like it's a national broadcast...

To be fair, they were announcing for the benefit of Brown fans. And I know from last year that Dell can really be a horrible ref, so he very well may have been quite incosistent.

On the other hand, they did go to far. I was a little upset when they started moaning about the great ECAC conspiracy to have Cornell not lose so that the ECAC would be represented high in the polls. ::screwy::

As for the game itself, I'm a little nervous on how we aren't killing these teams. Colgate seems to have killed both Yale and Brown, and we had two very hard fought games. For people who were there, are we playing down compared to last week? Are Brown and Yale getting better? Is Colgate just doing well because they've already played a few weeks.
I don't want to whine about a four point weekend, but it will get harder. It was nice to see our guys not give up and stick it to them when it counts.

It might be that Cornell has a huge target on their back and they should get used to seeing the absolute best effort of every team every night. Colgate might be benefiting from a letdown on the non-Cornell night.

These results are not that surprising to me.  Last year, we struggled on our first two road trips (MSU then Dartmouth/Vermont).  We actually came out 0-2-2 last year from those road games.  Since I could not personally see them play, I dont know if we are just not playing well or if these teams are better.  But I think the results have to do something with the first road games of the season.

There were actually Brown band members in the building toward the end of the game.  They came and chatted with us.  Nice kids.  They say they might come to Ithaca when those games roll around.

The reason they didn't play tonight was that the football team was on the road this weekend, and they don't have the numbers to split the band like we do.
