Lets Go red.
Keep that going for another hour and 15 at least.
Here's the all-access link to the Cornell audio broadcast:

Here's the Yale audio link (which may be out of date):

And the USCHO schedule with Gametracker link:
http://www.uscho.com/schedules/?type=d1
Yea i started a little early. But w/e just was bored and thought I'd get the thread going. Maybe some pregame discussion.
I am work, so I won't be able to update the audio links page until after the game starts, but someone posted in the other thread this other Yale link:
yalestation.org/media/player/?id=wybc-am: http://yalestation.org/media/player/?id=wybc-am
Coming into tonight, Cornell has won nine straight times against Yale by a combined score of 37-14: http://www.tbrw.info/reports/rptGamesByOpponent/rptGamesByOpponentPage23.html
Their longest win streak against the Eli is 12, set between 12/16/67 -- 2/14/73.
I hope ELF doesn't crash like I heard it did last weekend...::worry::

I think I mentioned then that I thought it was my fault for providing too many updates... ::uhoh:: :-/ As I can't be at my computer for most of the game and as there's an opponent's audio for non-All-Access people to listen to, I won't be providing updates tonight, and I think there's little chance of ELF crashing (at least, it won't be my fault).
My apologies to my fans :-P (<-very tongue-in-cheek)
All-Access is up. The feed answers the question, "what is the sound of one squirrel running across a keyboard"?
Carefoot is playing...the lineup is identical to the one last weeked vs. MSU
Has anyone found an active link to the Yale audio? The AM WYBC link on the Yale Athletics website doesn't seem to work. Maybe it's just overloaded right now.
14 minutes of silence and counting on the all-access feed.

Click directly on JasonN's link above. playing music right now, but presumably it'll switch over soon.
I'm still hearing music on the Yale feed. 4 minutes till game time.
Yale's lineup is being announced...
Still silent on all access
all-access is on!
Nervous: I just restarted all-access and got sound.
Your IP address indicates you are on campus. Did you know you can listen to the game on AM 870??
Gametracker up too.
Garrow calling the F lines; Brecke calling the D pairings. Huh.

Using Jason's link, WYBC now has two guys talking about Terrell Owens....That's a large step down from CU Hockey!! Has anyone found Yale audio anywhere else?

3 penalties on Yale, already? It sounds like they're struggling to keep up with us.
I think their PK unit(s) will be tired well before the end of the night - hopefully our PP will be able to take advantage.
Moulson just took a ton of shots...
CU Penalty Kennedy- Holding
Yale PP coming up
uh oh...mugford going off 5x3
CU Penalty - Mugford - Roughing Yale 5-3
Moulson and Bitz already combining for 5 of CU's 8 shots.

Wow another penatly. LET THEM PLAY. On yale by the way. thats thew only good thing.
good god, how many penalties are they going to call?
4X4 for 56 seconds, then an abbreviated Cornell PP.
this is bad. Another penatly. Is this ref gay?
OMG another CU penalty...4x4 then a 5x4 pp for yale for about a minute and a half

Mike, you own the thread, it is your sacred honor to update the title (i.e., "Cornell 1 Yale 1, 1st Period")
Oh, ok, sorry it's the first time I started a game thread so I wasnt sure. GGGGGOOOOOOAAAAALLLLLL carefoot.
CAREFOOT!!!! SH 2-1
A gay ref would call fewer penalties. Staying out of the box...
Who's reffing tonight?

it seems like we are having trouble clearing the zone on the pk
OK, how many men are on the ice at the moment?
Gametracker has that last goal attributed to McCutcheon...I'm going to guess that's not the case?
I can't remember 6 un-matched calls (5 penalties and 1 delayed) in one period against Cornell. Maybe in that bloodbath in Brian McCutcheon's last coaching game at Potsdam.
Penaltyfest - Yale penalty 4-4
BU up 2-0 on UVM
ANOTHER CALL???
another penalty...wtf man
Another Penalty CU 4-3 Yale for a few moments
7 un-matched calls against Cornell and 5 against Yale. Jesus aint tapping. He's doing the Forbidden Dance.
It will be interesting to untangle this tomorrow and determine how many seconds of 5x5 there were this period. I'd guess under 200.
And, just who are these mindless referees?
Anyone else find it odd that Seminoff was out with Pokulok on the pp?
out-of-town scores:
RPI@Clarkson 1-1, end of 1.
Union@SLU, 2-0 SLU

Nice to see the second unit get a PP goal!
Based on the way we've been playing (it sounds like a number of giveaways in our own end), we may be overrated :-O

1 12:55 Yal pp Jackson (Mayer, Zachary)
1 16:48 Cor sh Carefoot 1 (unassisted)

3 05:03 Cor pp Sawada 2 (Pegoraro 1, Mugford 1)
BIG save by McKee to hold the lead!
Cornell heading to the PP again
Great save by McKee on a 3-on-1 after another giveaway ... it doesn't seem like we're doing much hitting tonight. Ya hafta wonder if the tight officiating is taking away from our aggressiveness.
Now we have another PP -- let's put this one away.

McKee sticks aside a tough sh shot by Zappalla.
Pegs hook.
Pegs to the box for hooking.
Terrible powerplay, and now a make-up call, aparently. This is going to be a tough finish, as Yale seems to have the jump right now.
Princeton shuts out Dartmouth, 2-0, final.
Yale now on pp #10.
3:00 left
McKee nice glove save by Yaworski or Kaworski, not sure. Yale timeout, may be pulling the goalie to make a 2-man.

Cornell kill 9x10 with a shorty tonight!
how much time left?
McCutcheon first career goal, e.n.!!!!!
Lost elynah for a while.
Game Over?
What's the story with the scrum at the end?
when Cornell went up 4-2, the radio announcer said the game could have easily been 5-3 Yale if not for McKee's big saves.
McCutcheon missed what would be his 2nd empty netter at the last second. Probably trying to rub it in after the scrum that led to a Yale power play.
They said Boucher started it with O'Byrne. Then Pokulok took a swing. I also heard Mugford's name mentioned. Jason/Neal said it was ridiculous that they ended up with a 5x4--if anyone should be dqued it should be Boucher.
and then what happened in the game after the announcer said that?
Gametracker is stuck on 54 sec left. My audio ain't workin'

Lametracker now shows 46 seconds left.
What a joke.
Per Lametracker, Sasha got a DQ.
Not good.
He appears to have been the only one who did for Cornell. Carefoot, Bitz, and Mugford all got misconducts.
Oddly enough, Boucher didn't get called for a penalty, major or minor.
well if there is any question about the water boy boucher needing a dq, the tape will go to get reviewed if i remember correctly.
looks like yale played well but cornell came out with the win.
sucks down 5-2 to Q? wow
I think Donato playing Tobe has a lot to do with that. He has been a complete sieve everytime he steps out on the ice...why even start him?

Seems a bit unfair. Anytime you score only 2 goals (unless you are Cornell with Lenny or David, or Maine with Howard), odds are that you lose.
Sure they gave up 5, but scoring only 2 with 11 pp's?
Can't be all Tobe.

Agreed. However, I don't think Tobe in net puts Sucks in a very good position to win.
College hockey stats box score here - Sasha with a DQ, out for tomorrow. 89 PIMs for Cornell........ that'll bring up the per-game average.
http://www.collegehockeystats.net/0506/boxes/mcoryal1.n04
This was just an ugly game to watch.
The officiating was brutal. Just the constant stream of penalties for the first half of the game... Neither team could get anything going in 5 on 5 action. CU had a ton of chances on the powerplays early, especially after the first goal. I'd have loved to see us capitalize on one of those to grab the 2-0 lead. I think we could've pulled away after that.
The first line impressed me, especially on the powerplay. The second line was pretty bad--couldn't seem to ever get anything going. Sasha impressed me, along with Sawada and Mugford. Topher played his heart out. O'Byrne was shaky.
McKee was shaky in the beginning. The second Yale goal was on a simple rebound. In the third, though, he really turned it on, denying Yale on some big chances.
Yale showed absolutely no class at the end. It was just disgraceful behavior. I hated to see our guys fighting back, but I would imagine it would be tough to hold back. It sucks that Sasha will sit out tomorrow night. I can't see how he was singled out.
The band was good, the crowd was decent. I enjoyed hearing Ari's ramblings throughout. I loved how the Yale band went out for an on-ice performance at the end, despite the fact that all their fans had left. I don't know why they all hadn't left by the time the fighting broke out.
Loved the "overrated" chants when the score was tied. We got away with a poor performance tonight, but we'll need to play a lot better if we want to get that national championship Moulson has been yearning for.
Davenport!!

And with an entire period to play, no less.
As for the scrum at the end, if Sasha was the only one who ended up with a DQ, that's beyond ridiculous. I can't claim to have seen all the altercations, but there was definitely a Yalie throwing punches at one point, while at no point did I see any Cornellians actually throw blows (a lot of pushing and shoving and face-washing, but no punches that I saw).
Not only was the refereeing terrible in the sense that it was a special teams display for the entire first period, but there was no consistency. After that ridiculous 1st period, there were pretty much no calls in the 2nd, and then the whistles returned in full force with 12 minutes left in the 3rd.
[Q] at no point did I see any Cornellians actually throw blows [/Q]
I was at the opposite end of the rink, but I thought I saw some Cornell players throw punches. One Yale player was ejected, but it just seemed clear that Yale was gunning for a fight the entire third period.
I agree about the officiating. The first period, any contact led to a whistle. The second, there were no whistles. One can only imagine the total number of penalties if the rest game had been called like the first.
QuoteI was at the opposite end of the rink, but I thought I saw some Cornell players throw punches. One Yale player was ejected, but it just seemed clear that Yale was gunning for a fight the entire third period.
Then please tell me what the heck happened on those 2 Yale chances at the end which seemed like they were going to be certain goals -- especially the one right before the empty-netter. One second everyone on that end is rising and putting their arms up anticipating the tying goal, and the next moment we've fired it into an empty net to seal the game!

According to the box score on http://www.collegehockeystats.net/0506/boxes/mcoryal1.n04 Brennan Turner got a Game DQ also.
DQ: Pokulok, Turner
10 minute misconducts: (Carefoot, Mugford, Bitz), (Zappala, Jackson, Cohen)
Sasha got an extra 2-minute minor for slashing that gave Yale their 11th PP.
Cornell was lucky to escape with the win. They got way too many dumb penalties. Against a good team they would have been in big trouble. It reminded me about the loss to BC in Florida last year. As for the fight at the end. They have to be bold enough to walk away and not throw punches right in front of the three blind mice. The crazed thing about the flight is that Boucher did not get DQ and he basically started the mess (after Pokulok's 2 minute penalty for slashing--A necessary event to prevent a score). Nonetheless, we are also lucky some additional fighting penalties were not called as the three blind mice missed a couple of late right jabs.
Nonetheless --It was a nice win and David looked great in the 3rd period. He made two amazing saves--one with the glove that the goal judge thought was going in and for about two seconds put the goal light on. I guess that would make it four blind mice.

I'm not sure the other one you're talking about, but the one right before the ENG was a gift from heaven. McKee was looking left (all directions from his perspective), and the puck ends up on the stick of a Yalie on the right side of the crease, 6x4 to shoot at, and somehow he just whiffs on it and sends it through the crease and back out the left side behind McKee. Cornell turns it around, brings it up ice, and McCutcheon gets his first collegiate goal.
McKee made some great saves in that third period, but someone above was just looking out for him on that one.
