Hey guys,
I am going to be taking a roadtrip to Michigan State this weekend (a little bummed about missing the US-18 Exhibition) and I am going to take a side trip to Yost Ice Arena to see the Michigan vs. Michigan State game. I have tickets through MSU's Fan Group but a friend does not. Have any of you guys made the trek out to Yost? Is it particularly hard or easy to scalp? How expensive are the tickets? Any recommendations about the visit? I'm eager to see how Yost stacks up to Lynah seeing as though they have borrowed many of our traditions.
According to the official website, tickets range from $18 to $24 based on location. The MSU game is not listed on the ticket purchasing page, so presumably it's already sold out (shocking!) No idea about scalping availability.
Yeah, Michigan's tickets are sold out. They do a season ticket deal and have a lottery system and waiting list. Any other info would be much appreciated.
i was there for ferris state at michigan 5 years ago BUT the students were on break so it was quiet and there were scalpers. not sure if this will be the case. did u post on uscho?
did u try mich states ticket office?
There's good news and bad news. You're usually able to scalp. However, football's at Iowa this week, so hockey is the only major athletic event in town, and their rivalry with MSU is obviously a big one. I'll be curious to hear the evaluation of Yost from someone with no history there. Think you'll find it very similar, if quite a bit larger than Lynah. They're both loud, but I'll let you be the judge which rink wins the decibel prize.
Major restaurant drags are a few blocks north of Yost on S. State, on South University, east of the diag, and on S. Main, which is a few blocks west of State. Been a few years since I've been in AA, but there used to be a really good Mongolian Barbeque place on S. Main. You can also pick from this list:

For post-game entertainment, check out the Blind Pig at 208 S. 1st St. or the Ark at 316 S. Main.
An option is to pick up a standing room ticket and then, using some nefarious chicanery, to sneak into another section. Being a member of the Lynah Faithful, I figure that you can figure out an effective strategy.
I bought 2 standing room tickets for MSU at U of M in '99. I enjoyed the game and the overall atmosphere. It wasn't quite the party that Lynah is, but well worth the "standing".
