Title: Jersey Font?
Post by: Josh '99 on April 29, 2002, 02:41:50 PM
Random question...  what font, if any standard one, is the "Cornell" on the front of the team's jerseys?

And what about for the nameplates on the back?

My completely uninformed guess is that there is no "font" per se for the jersey -- the Cornell emblem is probably registered, and the names on the back are probably composed of prefab lettering bought in bulk from some patch distributor (they may id their products by font, but I'll bet they have their own byzantine industry-standard designation).

A spin-off question: what true type font best mimics the "Cornell" on the jerseys?

Although the basic design has been basically the same since the 1980s (and thank goodness for that), I get the impression the exact font and spacing of the letters in "CORNELL" has changed around somewhat.  (Just compare game jerseys from the past decade.)
