Title: OT - CU Lacrosse fall ball
Post by: peterg on October 07, 2005, 04:56:27 PM
Just a reminder to any elf-ers or lurkers in the NY metro area, the CU lacrosse team will be playing in the Algonquin Cup tournament at Hofstra this Sunday (10/9).  The first game for CU will be against Hofstra at 10:00 on Sunday.  The field also includes Hobart, St. Johns, Stony Brook and Duke.

The tournament web site for more information is http://www.algonquincup.com/

The 2006 CU roster is up at http://cornellbigred.collegesports.com/sports/m-lacros/mtt/corn-m-lacros-mtt.html.

Can't remember ever seeing so many frosh/transfers on a Cornell roster of any kind. It's way cool. And I think it's safe to say that this year's data point on the graph of Cornell lacrosse players' average size is kinda high.

I'd seriously consider it, but I'll be in Buffalo for a wedding.

It looks like the schedule was revised because of the damp fields.

From the laxpower.com forums http://www.laxpower.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=10839, Cornell won both of their games:

Cornell 13 Hobart 5
Cornell 10 Hofstra 9

EDIT: full results

Duke 10 Hobart 1
Cornell 10 Hofstra 9
Duke 13 Stony Brook 5
Cornell 13 Hobart 5
Stony Brook 7 St. John's 5
Hofstra 7 St. John's 7

For the newbie college lacrosse fan, one can find tournament analysis from spectators by clicking through the link to the forums.

Favorite quotes from that thread:

"Duke was very impressive. Cornell equally impressive. Bouloukos is a monster!!"

"Cornell looked good. Boulukos is dominant."

Need a couple of attackmen to step up and backfill Greenhalgh and Nee.

BUSTED!  The real reason for the second edit was to get rid of the repetitive use of "it looks like"...  ;-)
