Hello Faithful-
My name is Matt Bertenthal, and I am VP of community service for Cornell's gamma chapter of Alpha Phi Omega - a co-ed community service organization.
I am proud to announce that in coordination with Gene Nighman and Sue Detzer, we will be raffling off a hockey stick signed by most of the men's hockey team at the hockey ticket line this Friday and Saturday at the line in the Ramin Room!
All proceeds from this raffle will go towards the American Red Cross Hurricane Rita and Hurricane Katrina relief funds. We will begin selling tickets between 7 and 8 PM on Friday, and continue to sell them up until the drawing which will occur roughly around 6 PM on Saturday. The winning ticket must be presented at that time, otherwise we will keep drawing until a winning ticket is presented.
Right now the tentative ticket prices are:
$1 for 1 ticket
$5 for 7 tickets
This should be a great chance to win an invaluable piece of Cornell Hockey memorabilia and raise money for a worthy cause, so be on the lookout for us selling blue raffle tickets in the Ramin Room! I will be there the whole time - I have number 1120. See you there!

What a great idea. I just wish I could be there to buy some raffle tickets myself.
Great idea, count me in. But why "most of the men's hockey team"? Did some rafuse to cooperate with charity?
I have to say 'most' because
a) Thats what Sue Detzer said in her email to us
b) I haven't seen the stick for myself yet
So the stick could very well contain all of the teams signatures... we'll have to see tonight :-)

You should do another raffle to benefit the victims of the hockey line.
So we now have:
4 signed sticks (3 goalie sticks, 1 regular)
1 signed jersey
Assorted cornell hockey goodies (picture frame, hat, etc)
and a separate raffle for a 2003 championshiop devils hat signed by Joe Niewendyk!!!
If you are reading this, bring money to the line tomorrow and buy raffle tickets!
