Title: NC$$ ding letter
Post by: Rita on August 23, 2005, 09:49:01 PM
The NC$$ has started mailing out the lottery results for the frozen four in Milwaukee.
I got my ding letter today. they say refunds (minus the $6.00 processing fee) should be credited to my credit card on or about Sept 1st.

hmmm, how many people do you think apply for the lottery. at $6 a pop for rejections, that is quite a nice scam they have going...

Yes, this has been discussed here and elsewhere at length:

I got my letter today - success, four tickets for my usual crew.

The letter also clarified something about the priority system in light of the 2010 Ford Field venue.  Obviously a lot more people than usual will be able to get tickets to that Frozen Four, but nobody new will benefit from it permanently.  Only those people already in the priority system before the 2010 lottery (i.e., only those who've attended via the lottery in 2009 or before) will receive credit for attending via the lottery in 2010; people who buy through the lottery for the first time in 2010 will not gain any priority for it.

I got my letter, too, and I received four tickets.  I think I'm only one priority number lower than Beeeej and so far have never been denied tickets.  Usually get horrible seats, but I'm in the building.

I didn't get tickets this year, but at least I get my $600 back, I'll take it. And buy off eBay or USCHO if we are so lucky.

Meanwhile, I did get them least year so 2010 will count for me ;-). Although it would suck if you applied 5 times before and didn't get it. They should really make 2010 count only if you've *applied* before, not depending if you received or not.

I suspect that would be almost exactly the same as making 2010 count for everybody who goes in 2010, period.  You may argue it's not your "fault" if you applied but didn't succeed, but in a way, it is - the priority system is the NCAA's way of trying to tell you that you should have started attending in the 1990s when it didn't always sell out.  Early adopters get rewarded.

Of course there were those of us who were in high school at the time and had never heard of college hockey ;-). At least I've gotten in once, and hope to get in again before then anyway by random luck, so I'll enjoy my boost up at that time. But I just feel bad for people who might be 4 years behind me and start trying in 2008 or so and really mean it. But, I guess, not too bad B-]

We are extremely grateful to have received two tickets on our first try. Let's hope Cornell will be there...
