Does anyone know if & when an alumni game will be played this summer. I believe the date of last year's game was July 16th. So, I expect it should be coming up soon. Tnx.

Friday, July 15.
Thanks, Al. I look forward to a mid-summer trip to Lynah.

Enjoy, redice. I hope there's a good turnout of players. This year's hockey alumni reunion "honors" teams from the '80s.

More specifically, what time? Is it open to the public and if so how much does it cost? And why am I thinking I've asked these questions already? Well, if I did, i don't remember, and I'm too lazy to look it up. :-P

It's always been in the evening, but I don't know the precise time. I believe there's usually been a small charge, but I really don't recall.
I don't remember ever having to pay to get into the Aum game the summers I was on campus. But I could be wrong. The year Nieuwy showed up with the cup I think there was fee because they were doing a fund raiser for an injured former player (whose name I cannot recall unfortunately).
Link to thread on game two years ago.

Game time will be either 7:00 or 7:30 depending on how the old guys feel. Sue Detzer can't nail down a more specific time than that. :-D

So, if we just show up at 7, we're not going to be turned away or anything, right?

Even with Joe and the Cup there (haha... Cup'n'Joe :) ) I don't think the alumni game was full, though awful close. Probably woulda been if all the people coming through for pictures actually stayed to watch.

Not at all. And a ragtag summer edition pep band will be there to fill the void if you get there at 7 and there's no hockey going on....
Game time is officially Friday (tomorrow) at 7:30. Sue asked me to re-inform everybody because apparently the newspapers and the radio were saying the game was Saturday, which is incorrect.
Thanks for the info.
Anyone know how long the alumni game usually lasts?

1 to 2 hours. Usually the older players get tired and want to stop, but with so many young players returning it may go longer.

Seems to me in some years they played two periods, and the periods were something like 30 minutes long with the clock always running.
So, how was the alumni game? Anything of note? Who attended and played?

Nothing that exciting happened. Topher was the ref. Carefoot was the Red team coach. Schafer was the goal judge.

Apologies for any typos.
Aside from Garrow, does anyone know who those guys are without the years next to their names? Presumedly, they're not alumni.

I suspect Robb Cutting is from the family that owns the Cutting auto dealerships in Ithaca. Big Cornell hockey fans and supporters.
I'm disappointed Murray & the McRae's did not attend!:`( Do they announce the list of players that will be attending every year before the game?
A number of local Ithacans (that I know), either having grown up in Ithaca or are now longtimers:
Tony Eisenhut '88 - Played on the team- only a bit on varsity
Gred Hartz - Currently with the Tompkins Trust Company
Tom Fox '71 - A long time local goalie in the adult leagues
Roger Dennis - IC grad and a highschool hockey goalie (IHS class of '68)
Garth Dennis - Played for the Gunnery Prep school and is a UVM grad
Robb Cutting - UNH Grad and a member of the Cutting Automobile Family (Dave '50)
Wayne Stokes '76 - Owns Sand Carved Signs in Ithaca - One tough player in his day!
Scott Garrow - Current CU Asst Coach
Larry '72
So Tom Fox never played for the varsity team?
At least he spells his first name properly!
::banana:: (sorry, just hadn't seen the banana in a while and needed a fix)
Only in my dreams!
The class of '71 is the only class during whose tenure the team never lost a game at Lynah Rink.
Arthur Mintz '71
Anybody know if Chartrand is hanging up the skates or if he's going to try to play again? I was surprised that he didn't either play in the AHL or in Europe last season given that he's not necessarily in the Kings plans.
Also, if anybody spoke to the early 90's guys - Derraugh, Nobel, Deschamps, Dragon - I'd be curious what they're up to.

We sat with Deschamps and his family at the Saturday night banquet a few years ago. IIRC, he's now a dentist.
