Phantoms re-sign Cote, Cook
http://www.theahl.com/AHL/News/2005/07/07/1121332.html
In side news, the Coyotes have moved their affiliation to San Antonio - http://www.theahl.com/AHL/News/2005/06/29/1110620.html - so no luck for any of us in the northeast wanting to see Lenny more often locally.
Interestingly, San Antonio's previous affiliation, Florida, has been bought out and doesn't even appear to be sharing the affiliation, according to the AHL's affiliations page. The game of musical chairs continues and it's Florida's move (k, that doesn't make sense, there are no 'moves' in musical chairs... but... well... shuddup ;-) ).
I thought he joined the Phantoms initially because he was offered a one year contract. ::screwy::
[q] I thought he joined the Phantoms initially because he was offered a one year contract.[/q]In this context "one year" meant one season, as in the 2004-05 season. New season = new year = new contract.
Right, ATOs (amateur tryout contracts) and PTOs (guess) are often for 15 or 30 days. They gave him the remainder of the season.
Not really about a pro career, but certainly about a pro.

Good news for Charlie Cook.
I was watching the Flyers press conference this evening and they announced that two of their defensemen, Markus Ragnarsson and Mattias Timander, have decided they're going to stay in Sweden rather than come back to the Flyers. That means the Flyers only have 3 defensemen on the roster who didn't play with the Phantoms this year - Eric Desjardins, Kim Jonsson, and Danny Markov.
Clarke said that they're going to sign a free agent d-man in the free-for-all next month, and they still intend to get Markov re-signed, but that still means that at least two d-men from the Phantoms will be up with the Flyers, probably Pitkanen and Seidenberg, and maybe Randy Jones, too.
That leaves 7 defensemen (including Jones) on the Phantoms roster, one of whom is Charlie. He should get decent ice time this coming year.
Looks like Joe Nieuwendyk's headed to Florida, w/ Gary Roberts:
