The newest issue of PC Magazine arrived in my mailbox this week. Our prolific poster, Bill Howard made mention of ELynah in his column. I hope that doesn't raise the traffic too much but now that the season is over and the NHL season is drawing to a close ::rolleyes:: there won't be all that much interest in Age's board from outsiders.
The column did raise an issue in my mind that I had considered back when PC listed their top 100 web sites. In that issue Bill wasn't quoted concerning his top picks. We see some of them now.
But the spring is here and unlike my activity during hockey season I find myself checking into several sites before ELynah these days. Bill listed some of his favorites in his column and I will list two of mine here but my question is the following:
What sites are you "addicted to" in that you visit them each day online?
Here are two of my favorites:
http://www.snapfiles.com/
http://www.sofotex.com/
Among my favorites:
http://www.televisionwithoutpity.com/
http://www.exile.ru/archive/by_column/war_nerd.html
Three sites:
The Republic of Pemberley (for Jane Austen obsessives, but including general chat about books and other stuff): http://www.pemberley.com/
Pepys' Diary, annotated daily by the community at large: http://www.pepysdiary.com/
And the New York Times, constantly.
www.nytimes.com
www.washingtonpost.com
www.nypost.com, because i refuse to pay for that crap
www.nydailynews.com also crap but at least they aren't owned by a fascist
www.msnbc.com
www.gothamist.com
www.gawker.com because I MUST know who in Hollywood is impregnating whom
www.apartmenttherapy.com
newyork.craigslist.org
espn.com
www.justoffcamera.com
www.cornellsun.com
And of course I move with catlike speed and agility from site to site. Those are the big ones, there are others.
I just wasted 5 minutes of my life, I think.
http://board.uscho.com/ (duh)
www.birdingonthe.net
is my only other daily addiction besides eLynah.
This is a nice little collection of daily cartoons:
http://www.angadi.org/comics.html
And I don't check this out everyday, but this is pretty good for laughs:

I used to check out this site everyday, but now not as much:

Admittedly, a lot of these are my friends' projects, but I have smart friends and they have cool projects. I tried to resist whoring my own stand-up schedule, but I'm not that strong: http://rickblaine.com
The list is longer than I'd care to admit. So I'll just admit one. Instapundit.com
www.espn.com
www.cnn.com
www.bostondirtdogs.com (baseball season and offseason trades)
www.mountwashington.org (compare weather to valleys, read daily logs, see webcam view

and, since I discovered it this winter, www.elynah.com which I had expected to end when the hockey season ended but these threads just keep coming:-D

www.btefnet.net
www.democracynow.org (I'm not a hippie)

and I'm surprised it took so long to get my.yahoo.com listed. I have it set up for all sorts of news (Washington Post, etc), weather, sports (there's even college hockey news!), humor and entertainment (the Onion), fantasy baseball...it's convenient for me considering I keep in touch with fraternity brothers through yahoo fantasy sports games.

Yes, it sounds bizarre. Trust me.
http://www.homestarrunner.com
Welcome to homestarrunner.net. It's dot com!
Not a daily thing, but worth a look every Monday for the Strong Bad Email. It could be a daily thing at first, though - there's lots of emails.
Hint: Try mousing over various parts of the cartoons while they're happening - there are tons of easter eggs hidden throughout the site.
you just found homestar?!?!? ::laugh:: ;-)
I threw the dot com bit in because the firsttime intro doesn't automatically play. Or maybe it did and I forgot about it. But I don't think I saw it until a few months after I went there, and it's almost as good as the emails and teen girl squad.
Er, I mean, yes, I did just find the site. I haven't wasted much time there at all. Really.
:-}
hours upon hours of mindless fun B-]
If we are advertising our favorite websites then here is one that wins for that "gosh I did something good today" feeling:
http://www.thehungersite.com
"Your click helps feed the hungry with the value of 1.1 cups of staple food. Please click every day..."
Also, try the related links for child health, literacy, rianforest, breast cancer etc. It takes just a second and it is often the most productive thing I do all day.
An excellent site I found recently: John J. Reilly homepage and blog: http://pages.prodigy.net/aesir/index.htm
The book and article reviews, in particular, are very dry and very, very funny.
