Title: Frozen Four
Post by: A-19 on April 07, 2005, 04:37:39 PM
Don't any of these teams know how to kill a penalty (or not to take penalties?)
All 7 goals have come on the PP so far, with Denver scoring on 5/10 chances.

This is irritating just to watch.

"De - fense?  What's that?  Isn't that the thing people want to put up along the Mexican border?"

Not a real exciting game - and I watched second and third period  -   seemed like the WCHA guys couldn't get into how the ref was calling the game or ref was inconsistent or a bit of both!

You're thinking of De Militia.

Don't know if anyone caught it but Smaagaard had a nice quote after the second period of game two. Minny is down 2-0 and not playing well, he said that UND big d-men on the small ice sheet is making it too difficult on the smaller Minny forwards ::rolleyes::

Oh the irony

what a war it would have if our boys had been out there v. North Dakota ... a guy can dream right?;-)
as was said above, anyone who doubted the big sheet/small sheet discussion please turn on ESPN2 to witness the outcome. it's more than convincing.
Let's GO Sioux!:-D  ::nut::

Yep, the Gophers don't look so tough on regular ice.    I know we're not supposed to complain about such things, but it is still very frustrating.

I agree. Can't you just imagine Sawada and that Greene kid meeting with a full head of steam :-D

3-0 now.   Nice effort, Goofers.

Ben, I agree, a CU-NoDak battle would be something to see.

Me too, I'm very impressed with NoDak's style. It seems very familiar ;-)

I'm embarassed for myself for not catching that - I think I was too excited when we scored to remember we were even shorthanded

and now we've gone from just Cornell scoring on Minny powerplay to one for NoDak and two for the Goofers

No cowbell's are against the rules not Minny's drums ;-)

North Dakota seems like they would be a very good match up for Cornell if we made it there.  North Dakota I think has a little more team speed then us but they definitely play a similar style to us.  It is amazing how Minnesota looks so different when playing on normal ice.

allow me to rephrase ... CORNELL COWBELL'S[/B] are against the rules

Actually, there were at least two cowbells in the arena for the Frozen Four semifinal games.    One was played by Denver (non-band) people.   I don't know who had the other one.    Since the arena rules expressly forbid cowbells, I was surprised to see them.   Ya gotta love those goofers!!!

The drums are NoDak's. They play them incessantly... would not have been allowed in MN or Lynah for sure (The MN director would kill if a goph bandie did that).

On a random note: that long pass by the NoDak defenseman during the MN shift by NoDak was a thing of beauty. :-O

CC and Minny looked exceptionally *horrible* in defeat last night -- among the worst F4 performances I can think of (though nobody may ever top Colgate's nervous collapse in the '90 F).  Maybe this is what happens when you get teams that really know each other?  We'll see Saturday -- if there's another blowout, this is one of the worst tournies ever, right down there with some of the routfests of the '50's.  ::yark::

No, no, you don't understand. Last year's 1-0 was a snoozefest. If the game is high scoring, it *has* to be exciting! ::rolleyes::

Especially when you got to see it in replay from behind the defenseman.  Gives you some perspective on how difficult it must be to really "see" the whole ice sheet for long passes like that.

That was the arena's doing.  The really weird thing is that they didn't pipe in music after the goals in that game, just the siren, and with no band there for either school (I bet that HS band that played for Mercyhurst was available ::rolleyes:: ) it felt more like an air raid than a goal celebration.
