Hirsch is out
Bad for him. Good for Maine. Good for us. Good for you. That's the start of the 4,000th thread here on elynah. Here's to another 1,000 elyanh threads ::rock::
Interesting camera angle gives you almost a birds eye view of the action (60 degree angle?).
Definitely home crowd advantage...yikes.
Howard just stoned a Minnesota player after he skated right in on goal untouched
go maine!

Nice. ::popcorn:: I've been in as much hockey heaven as I can be in this weekend without being in Minneapolis.
5 minutes in and there have been no penalties...
edit: doh! except for the matching minors 21 seconds in :-P

USCHO thread says there were matching minors :21 in.
Ref is Feola from the ECAC (he did the championship game, instead of Kotyra, to my surprise)...first PP for Maine

According to USCHO boards there were matching minors at :21 of first. I don't have any TV or radio access to confirm.

yeah...about that...oops :-D
Good chances on the powerplay for Maine but the Gophers are able to kill it off. Briggs is going to need to hold on to those rebounds if Minn wants to win this game....
just went to intermission.
Shots are 11-11 (gametracker http://www.ncaasports.com/icehockey/mens/gamecenter/live/NCAAH_20050326_ME@MN says it's 13-10 Maine), and Minnesota is winning the faceoffs almost 2:1 (13-7).
Game on!
Very deceptive title, I thought the score was maine 4, minn 1. can that be changed?

Sure can John...certainly didn't mean to trick you :-P
Flurry of action in front of the net...getting a little chippy with after whistle pushing...Minnesota on the powerplay after a holding call against Maine
thanks
Minnesota just out worked Maine big time and got the penalty when Maine pulled down a Minnesota player...I knew Minnesota was supposed to be small and quick but they are currently out hustling and out muscling Maine.
Minnesota is really struggling to set up their powerplay...making it easy for Maine to kill off
14 minutes left in the 2nd
Maine just missed a wide open shot from the slot...point blank right into the glove of Briggs
3 on 1 for Minnesota, the Maine defender completely took away the pass and it was the Minn attacker against Howard. Howard made a flashy glove save on the quick wrister...very nice sequence
Ugh... that call just gave me a flashback to John Grahame in '96. What a hoover.
Minnesota fans are pissed because they thought they earned a penalty...instead, Maine player loses his edge and Maine gets the PP. Tough call.
The Minnesota crowd sounds enormous judging by the webcast. Do they also sound that overpowering on the telecast? The traveling faithful are going to have to cheer extra hard if we make it to tomorrow's game and Minn. survives Maine...
Adam, you should be a play-by-play announcer. Nice job and really enjoying it. BTW, is anyone following the Harvard/UNH game?
LET'S GO RED!!!

Yeah, they sound really loud. 9,000 Minnesota fans out of 10,000 seats...oy...it's the first regional semifinal that hasn't looked empty so I understand why they play at the Mooch

Ha! I guess hiding behind a microphone is kind of like hiding behind a computer :-)
It hasn't started yet because the Denver/Bemidji game went to OT
I think UNH-Harvard just started.
Edit: About 4:00 in.
jeez..Maine missed an open netter on the PP

You hopped over to USCHO just as I did ;-) The feed hasn't been picked up on TV yet and gametracker hasn't been updated
Here's the USCHO thread of the Harvard game http://board.uscho.com/showthread.php?t=48514

Maine looks real good. Their positioning on defense seems fantastic and Minn hasn't been able to abuse Maine with their speed. The Minn powerplay continues to struggle setting up. 4 minutes to go in the 2nd
And as I say that, Minn powers around Maine and draws another penalty, this time tripping
HARVARD SCORES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Minnesota finally sets up their powerplay but Maine is pressing real hard. Minnesota isn't getting much of a chance to handle the puck...
Beautiful diving shot on a 4 on 4 ice situation

Go Sucks!!!! :-D
UNH going on the PP.
Are there audio feeds for either of the games going on, or the CU game later?
Is there gametracker at all for any games? I don't see it anywhere?
shots are 28-20 Minnesota...Minnesota really controlled the last two minutes but Howard was up to the task.

Click on "live stats" under each score for gametracker
Here's the Minny-Maine gametracker. Harvard-UNH's isn't up yet.

Thanks. I was only looking at USCHO.
Faceoffs are 29-22 Minnesota
Maine is 0/3 on the PP and Minnesota is 0/6
Howard was getting ready to go on the ice, haunched over going through his visualizations in the hallway outside the locker room and the camera guy literally sticks the camera right up against his mask...nice work
Outstanding centering pass picks out a Maine player right outside of the crease but he couldn't hack the puck into the net
Maine is getting down on one knee quite a bit and blocking a ton of shots while Minnesota is not capitalizing by trying some fakes
Maine gets called for hooking in neutral ice...good call but really, really stupid...Maine didn't really drag him down with the hook, the Minn player felt the hook and went down...good call
Minnesota returns the favor with an equally stupid neutral ice penalty...Maine on the PP with 11:09 left in the 3rd
Minnesota is playing keep away down a man and has killed over a minute of the power play...the fans are going nuts
killed...Maine didn't get a single shot and the passes were garbage...embarrassing
Minnesota is playing with one forechecker...looks like they're afraid of losing
just saw the Cornell fans as the broadcast went to commercial!
Minnesota just blew by Maine and had a great chance, then Potulny was wide open in the slot and Maine took him down from behind before he could get the shot off...PP for Minnesota
Huge save from Howard...one timer from the slot is saved by the shoulder
and Maine gets a decent shorty chance shortly afterwards
I love how Minnesota carries the puck into the zone...Chucko was open on the weak side but his backhand was weak...penalty killed...phew
FYI
Ya know, the Minnesota radio guys are somewhat homer, but they're quite gracious towards the other team. Not bad.
3:11 left in the 3rd...Maine just pulled a guy down around their net and Minn had a solid delayed penalty but couldn't get the puck to the net, Minnesota on the PP
Forum is all of a sudden really slow as people show up for the Cornell game...
Howard just saved the game...2 on 1 pass across the crease and Howard slides across with the pass and makes a gorgeous glove save
JIMMY HOWARD IS SO HOLY. THAT GUY IS A MACHINE. TRULY THE BEST
Hee... Now you can hear the color guy applying body english. :-)
killed, one minute left...Minnesota is carrying play
Going to OT
phew
Cornell game should start about an hour after this game ends.
at least the camera is equally disturbing...right in the face of Briggs before the Gophers took the ice for OT
Keep playing, guys. Eighty, ninety minutes of hockey in Game One would be fine by Cornell and Ohio State.
Close up of our own Jeff Hopkins just before the start of OT.
Andy W.
Just saw A-19, er Mike, and the pep band! Game on!
1:46 into overtime and it's over...too bad...the Minnesota fans can spell
The goal came from Kaufmann, a freshman, his 7th of the season
37 saves for Howard...tough loss...
puck looked like it was being brought behind the net, three Maine players converged on the puck handler and Kaufmann was wide open in the slot...poor, poor defense after an extremely well played game
Not what I was hoping for...
::bang::
