Title: Buffalo Viewing Party
Post by: cmf46 on March 26, 2005, 11:22:34 AM
Is anyone going to be watching the game tonight in Buffalo and is there a viewing party scheduled somewhere?

I have been unable to find any sports bar that has DirectTV, but I am still looking around (I am on Grand Island).  This Altitude alternate feed is difficult to find.

Adelphia A13 placed an ad in the Buffalo News yesterday about showing friday night's BU and BC games, but I see no similar ad today.  I have had good luck with Buffalo Wild Wings in the past, and I'll try giving them a call when they open.  Good luck!

Buffalo folks may want to consider driving toward the Rochester area. Time Warner cable of Rochester is supposed to have a channel that's carrying the Cornell game live. (I don't know what channel -- you may have to do some research.) At any rate, if you can get close enough to Rochester (an hour's drive might do it) to find an establishment that has cable TV service in the Time Warner Rochester zone, then you should be able to find the game. It wouldn't have to be a satellite sports bar -- any place that has TWR cable, like a plain old hotel bar for example.

Spoke to someone at Wild Wings on Transit Rd., and they will be showing Michigan-CC.  They couldn't find our game in their program guide-which probably means they dont have the Altitude alternate channel.  Does anyone know how to find out the closest location that would get TWC Rochester?  I'm checking the TWC website now...

Update:
Apparently it is channel 98 on all of these service areas:

As many people have posted before, THE CORNELL GAME WILL NOT BE LISTED ON ANY PROGRAM GUIDE. Don't pay attention to the program guide. There's only one way to check whether a sports bar can show the Cornell game. Call them or stop by and ask them to put on DirecTV channel 644 (Altitude's primary channel). If they get that channel, then they will be able to show the Cornell game live at 6:00 Eastern Time on DirecTV channel 658 (where Altitude's unlisted "alternate" programming will reside for today).

If Cornell were to win, tomorrow's game would be on ESPNU. Does anyone know if BWW would have ESPNU? And are they open on Easter Sunday?

There is still a small chance that it will be on the local Buffalo Adelphia channel (A13), as the local rep tells me there is 'a college hockey game' on their programming guide.  However, we might get Michigan-CC.

I'm planning on taking the ride out to Batavia to make sure, as their provider is TWC Rochester.  That is, unless I can get an answer from BWW about Altitude.

Update:
Buffalo Wild Wings (on Transit in Williamsville) does recieve Altitude on 644, and the guide for that channel shows UM-CC at 5:00.  So, if anyone is interested in trying their luck with the alternate channel for the 6:00 game, this is an option.

It is a NO GO on A13, still showing with the local spelling bee instead of the first game.  Anyone up for BWW Williamsville?
