Title: Audio feeds?
Post by: MarkS on March 23, 2005, 07:49:04 PM
Does anyone know of any free internet audio feeds?  Or do I have to fork over 7 bucks to SpurtsPass?

I was wondering about audio feeds, myself. The men's hockey schedule page makes it look like there isn't even a pay feed for these games. http://cornellbigred.collegesports.com/sports/m-hockey/sched/corn-m-hockey-sched.html

would it be worth calling athletics to see if they can get the fee waived? In talking to them, they seem frustrated that the game isn't going to be widely available. so maybe they would be willing to work with you on this.

No, Cornell contracts with SportsPass to handle all their broadcasts.  Once you have a SportsPass subscription, you can listen to everything they carry.  So just getting in for one game would be quite complicated.

It's not that I can't afford $7 (the SportsPass monthly fee); I'm an alum, class of '77, now in California.  But it's awfully annoying; I just want to listen to a couple of the big games, and MANY schools have free streaming audio.

I'll have to mention this the next time I get a call asking for a donation ...

An OSU fan at board.uscho.com says that OSU has a free audio feed at

[q]I'll have to mention this the next time I get a call asking for a donation ... [/q]A whole bunch of us did when they decided to switch from free to SportsPass.  Deaf ears.  And I don't think anyone paid attention to my symbolic $65.75 donation this year either ($100 - five months of audio).  But it couldn't hurt.  Especially if you happen to be a reeeeaaaally wealthy class of '77 alum who would otherwise give them millions. :-D

Still no subscription RealAudio link on the schedule page, though the info page for the weekend http://cornellbigred.collegesports.com/sports/m-hockey/spec-rel/032305aaf.html says "Available at www.CornellBigRed.com, subscription." The multimedia page only shows lacrosse http://cornellbigred.collegesports.com/multimedia/corn-multimedia.html .

Anyone know who the contact in Athletics is for this sort of thing? If I can't find a willing bar out here, I don't want to end up completely screwed over.
