Post by: Mark on March 28, 2002, 10:12:20 AM
Sports Illustrated, in the new issue, compiled a list of the most impressive college sports feats by individual athletes. Ken Dryden rounded out the list at No. 10:

1) Jesse Owen in '35 setting four world records at the Big Ten meet

2) Cael Sanderson's 159-0 wrestling record, with the Iowa State senior finishing his career last week

3) Barry Sanders of Okie State rushing for 2,628 yards and 39 TDs in '88

4) Jim Brown in 1956-57 scoring 43 goals in lacrosse and dominating in football with just under 1,000 yards rushing and 14 TDs

5) Oscar Robertson's career averages of 33.8 points and 15.2 rebounds at Cincinnati from 1957-60

6) Tracy Caulkins of Florida winning 12 individual NCAA swimming titles from 1982-84

7) Robin Ventura's 58-game hitting streak at Okie State

8) Red Grange scoring five TDs and throwing for a sixth in 1924 as Illinois whipped Michigan 39-14

9) Bill Walton's 21 of 22 shooting performance and 22 points in UCLA's 87-66 win over Mempis State in the '73 championship game

10) Cornell's Ken Dryden compiling a 76-4-1 record with a 1.59 GAA from 1966-69, which included an NCAA crown in 1967.

*10b) BU shutting out Cornell 4-0 in the '72 NCAA hockey title game, the first shutout of the Big Red since the early 1960s  ;-)

Mike, I think that you should have known that Age wasn't going to get that wrong and had to be kidding.  But . . .

Age, if you really consider that "humor" perhaps someday you'll be introduced to it yourself. ::rolleyes::

Geez, I never knew this innocent post about Kenny D. would lead to fratricide among the Cayugites.  ::uhoh::
