Title: Cornell Will Win In Minnesota
Post by: calgARI '07 on March 20, 2005, 11:12:54 AM
Maybe I should rephrase as they CAN win in Minnesota contrary to what a lot of people are thinking.  Ohio State plays on NA ice and Minnesota will be without their top scorer and doesn't work nearly as hard as Cornell.  It sucks going to Minnesota and playing on the big ice, but I think the matchups are actually favorable to Cornell.

I'd think this year is a case that the #4 seed (Minny) works out to be the most beatable of all the #1s, though above all, the big ice doesn't thrill me.

LGR!!

Adam is doing his best to give an ECAC spin on things. But the other two guys don't seem to want to have anything to do with the ECAC. They are talking about goalies, and how important goalies are in the post season. News flash... Cornell has a goalie who's gotten 7 shutouts in the past 12 games.

Adam also said something about Cornell's reward for "losing one game in their last 18...", which, of course, is incorrect. That "loss" was a tie. WTF was Wodon thinking? It's not like he didn't have time to prepare his thoughts, and I know he knows Cornell's record. Weird slip.

Who was the host guy on the left that said BU was wondering if they would be in Worcester or Amherst?  ::screwy::

I'm not a professional sports commentator. Adam is. Adam is also a Cornell fan. The fact that he felt was important enough to mention twice (so clearly it was planned) is a lot stronger stated correctly than incorrectly.

I guess my criticism is more shock than anything else, because he is normally so good.

[Q]Who was the host guy on the left that said BU was wondering if they would be in Worcester or Amherst?   [/q]He was obviously trying to "increase the mystery".  He obviously should knew the answer, because about a minute later his script said that BU was hosting in Worcester. *heh*

But in the whole program, they just lightly touched on the fact that the host team HAD to play at home.  He was going for the teaser.

john buccigross...
nhl-2-nite host..
i caught that tooo....

I guess i'm not as worked up about the cc-du issue.. considering that we were in CC's situation two years ago. given the # of times that cc and du have played this year, they are clearly evenly matched, with denver having 3-2 record head-to-head. in this case the teams have decided their ranking on the ice over 5 games.

i was a bit surprised that they sent du to amherst and not worcester. I think it is easier to get to worcester than to amherst (either flying into logan or bradley). Granted du is flying, but they should have minimized the bus trip afterwards.  was there that big a difference between bu and harvard (bu had to stay in worcester, the other teams didn't.. and given the providence = worcester for cornell, amherst= worcester should have applied to bc).

Buccigross hosts all the NHL stuff on ESPN and ESPN2. I never really got the impression that he followed college hockey very much.

Buccigross doesn't know anything about NHL.  No surprise that he knew nothing about college hockey.

Minnesota has lost at home to Alaska-Anchorage, Minnesota-Duluth and a pair of losses to lowly Michigan Tech.   Their 6 losses at home this season ties them for the most losses by any of the 16 teams on their home ice this season.

I found $299 per trip on Southwest/ATA from Manchester NH, same from Providence. You might try flights from Albany, or even Cleveland(depending on your local situation :)

Sperris-

Are you an aggie? Do they not teach reading there?   ::help::

THat $299 is the ONE WAY price.  It's gonna cost you another $240+ to get home.

"Are you an aggie?" What is that supposed to imply?

MJH-

Take it easy :)  Just insulting Sperris' inability to read a website.  He'd be buying a ONE-WAY ticket and shocked to discover he couldn't get home.

Sheesh- can't even make an ag-school joke anymore  Touchy Touchy

Well, the unofficial Ag school motto is: "Hey, at least we aren't Hotelies." Pick on them.

Yep-

I forgot the icons...this can be a crappy medium for communication.

I just posted it on another thread, but ATA is clearly the cheapest from the NYC, Jersey, SE PA area.  I just booked a roundtrip from LGA to MSP for $293.  It wasn't the most convenient times, but I'll use the free time to get some birdwatching in.

OK -I slightly retract my admonishment of SPerris :)

ATA from Boston to MSP is $315 roundtrip if you leave 6am on Friday and return 1030pm Monday.  I'd looked through southwest's website before and found the 299+244 price...

Maybe the problem lies a little deeper, eh?
