Title: McKee could pass Hyphen for number 1 in Save Percentage
Post by: andyw2100 on March 19, 2005, 03:12:36 PM
I may have done the math wrong, so someone else please confirm, but I believe that if McKee and Hyphen face a similar number of shots tonight, and Cornell wins by two or more, McKee will take over the lead in save percentage.

(Not woofing or predicting...just a staement of fact.)

McKee: 695 Svs on 734 shots for .947
Hyphen: 851 of 897 for .949
Hyphen is two goals ahead of McKee.  That is, if he had allowed two more goals with as many shots he would trail McKee.  So it seems reasonable to think that a Cornell win by two or more (not counting ENG) could put McKee in first.  It's not the end of the story, of course, because both teams will have games next week.

If I crunched the numbers correctly ... to three decimal points, Grumet-Morris and McKee are tied in save %. McKee has more games played under his belt, but Hyphen wins the alphabetical-by-last-name battle (that bastard), so we'll see who's listed first on USCHO's stats page http://www.uscho.com/stats/ on its update.

Tonight:
McKee: 17/18 = .944
Hyphen: 29/32 = .906

Overall:
McKee: 712/752 = .9468
Hyphen: 880/929 = .9473

Don't worry.  Harvard is likely to give up four or five late goals next weekend in one of their games... :-P
