THIS IS FREAKING ANNOYING.
ANYBODY PLEASE HELP ME OUT TO GET 300K
Clarkson audio is free and clean.
The audio is fine, it's the video that blows
The audio part of the feed runs about 5 seconds late. It's like it's own instant replay.
ANY ONE GETTIGN 300K?
I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS! I GOT OFF WORK EARLY TO SEE THIS!!!
Are you using a Mac by any chance?
nope
i am using ultimate machine. IBM laptop.
I never had this problem.
u?
I was an XMI virgin until tonight...
XMI is really bad.
I would rather use logitech webcam and IBM laptop, and broadcast over internet for free.
i'm only getting 48K. glad I got the cable modem :-(
I just went from 56k to 369k
I got an email saying they reset the encoders, so hopefully things would work better.
...and they did for me.
Audio isn't off more than usual here. Just the glitch from splitting in the radio broadcast that is run completely differently.
My video feed is almost flawless. It just glitched a couple minutes ago when it lost the feed. I just had to press play and it went from 323 to 359. :)
I know it makes a big difference on my feed if i'm running wireless vs wired, any of you with issues could it be that?
I was having more issues loading up elynah than the webcast. Took 5 minutes to load up one message page.
During the first intermission, XMI restarted the encoder with slightly different settings. The new settings improved my feed from 56 to 369 Kbps.
yup.
mine got better, too!
BUT WE MISSED TWO GOALS!!!!
SHOULD GET $20 REFUND FOR TWO GOALS
Is there anyway to get a smooth continuous video feed. Is it supposed to be choppy?
Mine is decent, but keeps freezing. That happening to anyone else?
i am getting a smooth feed.
this is a great game!!!
Mine just goes image to image. Not smooth even though I am running at 359.
remember its the the internet , its the wave of the future, nothing can every go wrong..
as of ppd 1 intermission i'm happy too
JUST SAW IGGY'S SHG!!! WORTH THE $5 RIGHT THERE!!!
I'm getting 359 on a wireless connection. Video looks great.
Here is an email I just sent to xmievents.
I, and at least a handful of Cornell hockey fans, did not receive the quality video feed of the ECAC Quarterfinal game on Friday, March 11. The feed for the entire first period was useless at a 56k stream rate. I have a T1 connection, and had the latest version of Windows Media Player connection preference set at the T1 setting. I am a season pass subscriber, and did not have problems before xmievents decided to charge for this home game series.
Chris Fyall restarted the encoder at the end of the 1st period, at which time I, and others, were able to connect at the appropriate rate of above 300 k. Clearly, it was a server setting on your end that caused this problem.
I got off of work early on Friday in anticipation of watching an exciting game. Instead, I spent the entire 1st period restarting the computer and troubleshooting, at the request of Chris Fyall. During that time, I missed 2 Cornell goals.
I am demanding that you compensate me and all those affected. A fair compensation would be free streaming of the game on Saturday night (March 12).
I expect an explanation of how xmievents plans on compensating those of us who did not receive what we paid for.
John
i know in the past (vermont game i think it was) when there was issues they were really good about giving free access for the next game to those affected. Wouldn't be suprised to see it happen this time too.
i can't hear cheers!!!!
such a lousy service!!!!!
i am going to sue xmi !!!
I taped the game, and the goal is even better on replay!
XMI just refunded my money without even being asked. Quite a nice gesture if you ask me...
Mine, too, though I'd say "after he'd brought it up in our extensive e-mail correspondence during the game" rather than "without even being asked." After the game I filed as thorough a report with him as I could, so that he can use the information to try to fix things. By the end of the game, I had 365Kbps, and the picture was relatively good, but the video stream was kind of choppy.
I've gotta say, though, it's pretty cool watching a Cornell hockey game on a 55" widescreen TV when it's not actually being broadcast on TV. :-)
Beeeej
For those who haven't tried it, Beeeej is right on. The video translates well (not great) to a telelvision screen. So if you have video out jacks from your computer you should give it a try.
Went out and bought an RCA cable to connect to my svideo/RCA adaptor, since my TV doesn't have an S-Video input. Haven't got it to work under Linux, though, so I'll probably be in Windows mode tonight.
Not so much success with the audio; I thought getting a headphone-to-RCA-stereo converter and stereo RCA cable would let me run the output through my stereo. But there's a lot of line noise and the signal is pretty faint. Anyone got any advice there?
I use a headphone-RCA converter hooked to my stereo all the time connected to my computer and have never had any problems with it. Just make sure you use the right speaker output.
You don't necessarily have to chanel your audio through the TV. If you have a set of speakers, then you can connect to the speaker (the mini plug). The audio and video will be synced.
That is how I usually do it.

Yeah, I know, I was trying to use the stereo. But I might just be better off with a set of external computer speakers.
can anyone connect to the feed? I paid for it earlier today and was able to connect/get a good stream (it was of the ice with nothing going on), but now I cannot.

I get nothing, too.
Yesterday you were connected to the archives of the SLU game, but I guess today you get nothing until tonight's webcast begins. At least I hope it's gonna begin. ::uhoh::
I got the SLU archive about 45 minutes ago. Now nothing. Must be getting ready.

Audio and video Saturday remains > 5 seconds out of sync, same as Friday. Restarting no help.
Hey, it's better than nothing by a long shot. But, sheesh.

My audio was synched last night, is synched tonight. Don't know what's wrong on your end, bill.
Well, it's sort of like having an inadvertant audio instant replay. I actually switched PCs and got the same problem. I'm going to forget about it and watch the game.

I had no problems w/ syncing last night either. It was my first time w/ XMI and I was pretty impressed. Quality was good enough and it beats listening to it on the audiocast.
Cant wait for the free broadcasts of the games next week! GUess I'm putting in a couple hours of OT on Friday so I can stay in the office and finish the game or try to get home during an intermission :P
