A history of the North Country trip, since the beginning of the balanced schedule: http://www.tbrw.info/cornellHistory/cornellInNorthCountry.htm
Joe Marsh with _a lot_ of nice things to say about Cornell..
Interview with SLU coach on WHCU now. Man, could this guy gas on about how good Cornell is ... how good the defense is ... how Cornell dominates in power play, on penalty kill, in the goal ... almost made you yearn for the Agway singing commercial that finally broke it off.
Well, he was a co-assistant coach with Mike back in the day. ;-)
It sounds like the "Swinging Gates" are making a guest appearance tonight.
Either the mike is in a terrible location or only eight people are singing O Canada. And they're closer to the mother ship than we are.
I forgot about the singing group that does the anthems at SLU(t). They always look startled at the "RED"
Well, the RED part of red glare came through 5 by 5.
Where the hell does "5 by 5" come from? I've always wondered. Well, ok, I occasionally wonder and am never interested enough to look it up.
just looked it up myself :-}
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=5+by+5
Did O'Byrne just score?
Sure sounded like it. :16
yep. looks like he's fully recovered :-)
where did that happen???
nasty...
Anyone else having issues with the stream? Might just be my router.
Nevermind it "switched transports" and worked just as I posted that.
During the commercial - LGR!!!
That was at least the third Cornell goal this year that occurred during commercial break on WHCU.
[Q]puff Wrote:

During the (WHCU) commercial break before the opening faceoff.
I can't get teh slu feed.
Measure of radio signal strength. Five-by-five means the clearest, loudest, or strongest signal.
O'Byrne whiffs on another attempt. That's my boy! ;-)
Cornell to the PP.
Cornell pp coming up.
While we all in the kitchen getting a beer ... it happened.
If you watch the webcast (video), and listen to the WHCU commercials, you realize how much of the game you miss during commercials. WHCU radio is not powerful enough to force play-stoppages.
Jacob follow the instructions in the first link on the other page and it should work
Blow them out early. This SLU team has a lot of heart and I don't want them hanging around.

LIABILITY!!! :-P

Yeah, just figured that out, thanks.

Makes sense. The first time I ever heard the term was on Gene Shepherd's radio show on WOR in the 70's. He was a WWII radio op.
Can't get the audio at work, only Game Tracker. Why are we getting outshot so badly? Is play in our end that much?
It seems a lil that way right now. Lots of saves by Mckee
Well, someone tell them to go play at the other end, OK?
Back on Cornell pp.
SLU(t) audio not working here either.
Period ends, 1-0 good guys. 1:31 of pp to begin second.
"is it because Topher Scott is 4 foot 2"
"Scott's not really 4'11", he's 5'6", but he looks 4'11""
hooray for objective playcalling!
Moulson's sister got a hat trick at Lynah earlier this year. (Hey -- no cracks.) That might be a first.

[/q]I've seen Topher Scott. He does look 4'11'.
Especially when he's around the rest of the team.
Game on. Cornell pp.
pp expires with no damage. Vart just wide on a shot after a dig and steal deep in SLU ice. Man, that kid's improved.
17:07 left in the second, Cornell with more jump this period.
and as Greg says that...
damnit
Trevelyan hits the crossbar. Yikes.
...and then scores. 2-1 SLU.
Fuck.
Well we did seem to be coasting the last few games. Maybe this'll wake them up.
How long has it been since we've been behind?
In the last 11 games, Cornell only trailed at any point for 22 seconds (at Yale).
We're not coasting. We were playing well in the early portion of the period. SLU is having a spike and they have enough talent to convert. We need to grind it out, slow and steady, and take advantage when we can. That's Cornell hockey. Don't panic.

I didn't mean today per say. Perhaps its still just the taste in my mouth from the Yale game. Playing well enough to win against bad teams, but not seeming to play with the domination that they can. You can feel free to disagree, but I don't mind seeing them challenged, if they can pull it out anyway, that is ;)
Well, tonight sounds like a challenge. Shots are 18-7 against, trailing 2-1 in the game, against a team they barely beat at Lynah, in a very tough barn. Let's see what they're made of.
BTW, the Traveling Faithful sound great. I know that "I'm gonna have a sore throat tomorrow but damnit maybe we can push them over the top" shock.
Big save by McKee on Anderson with Taylor trailing.
SLU has a player named "Hogg"? There must be a Deliverance joke there somewhere.
Carefoot with a good chance, then loses an edge, and Knoepfli can't hold it in. Cornell playing better largely on the strength of Iggy, Vart, Carefoot... the mudders.
Now Cornell going on pp, with the first line well-rested.
Scott, O'Byrne, Knoepfli buzzing on the second pp combo. O'Byrne misses due to a splintered stick; lots of good looks at McKenna but no score. 3:38 to go, 2nd, still 2-1 Saints.
NcKee a big save on Zeiler and Iggy a nice clear of the crease. SLU keeping control on their pp.
pp's: Cor 0x3 SLU 0x2. Cook had a nice skate-out clear with Knoepfli to end the SLU pp.
getting a bit sick of hearing the SLU(t) call continuing to think "Cornell was off side" or "that should have been an icing" or Hansen sucks (no argument there) ... sounds something like this, complain-complain-complain-goSLU(t)-complain-complain-i'm a homer-complain-cornell cheats-go SLU(t) ...
even though the feed is free, it's definitely a relative term
Seems like these last couple minutes of the period are taking forever!
I don't have audio, anyone care to comment?

Sure...the 2nd intermission is going swimmingly. Right according to plan.
Intermission. Mike Iggulden sounds like George Foster.
OK, gut check time for Cornell. Maybe we should be grateful, since it isn't in an elimination situation:

Gametracker was stuck on 1:16 remaining in the period for about the last 10 minutes. I can't access the audio and there was nothing posted here.
When the good guys are down by a goal, the announcers on radio make the game even scarier. Every time St. Lawrence (7-5-1 at home is all they've managed? So what's happening tonight?) gets the puck near McKee, you hear the crowd roar and the announcers are trailing the play by about 2-3 seconds, so you never know if that was a goal or just a close call.
i wonder if they still have the skating fairy
edit: sorry for the random comment, i just remember some little girl falling all over the ice
14:08 in reg, 2-1 SLU.
Geeze, gametracker still has 20:00 for the 3rd.
Report from Hanover:
13:14 to go in regulation. Still 0-0. Dartmouth getting the territorial adv. again this period.
Sawada feeds Scott who can't quite get on it.
10:30 mins left
McKee big save on Taylor to keep it close. David's really been saving our you-know-what.
9:44 left
Knoepfli a good shorty bid, and forces face in SLU end.
Penalty on Krantz. This could be Cornell's big chance if Iggulden is on PK. Or Knoepfli?
Iggulden gets a SH chance and ... misses.
McCutcheon and Knoepfli are owning this SLU pp so far.
Cornell kills off the SLU pp, under 7 mins to go.
Bitz takes a hard crosscheck after the whistle but no call.
gotta love how that was not mentioned on the SLU(t) webcast
4:53 to go in regulation.
GOAL!!!!!! special K
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Knoepfli!!!! :-D
Knoepflli from Pegs and Glover!!!!
YESSSS!!!!
KNOEPFLI!
Damn the guy is so quiet on the SLU cast I couldn't even be sure he said "score"
Glover's assist is his first point of the season.
Delta I noticed every time the puck goes in there end he goes quiet, so I never really knows what is happening on that end of the ice. So I was not surprised that I could barely tell that we scored
Thank you, seniors. ;-)
3:25 to go in reg. Gotta keep on an even keel here, we're on the road and want to stay on our game.
3:25 left. Either the announcers need medication or McKee is really doing some exciting stuff.

If you paid your five bucks for the Cornell feed, you would have known.
DOWNS!!!!!!!!!!
Downs scores, and Sucks is losing 1-0!
Oh Happy Day!
Andy W.
GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!
DOWNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:-) :-) :-D
DOWNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Downs for the 3-2 lead 1:52 to go
Waving it off?
jeremy downs!
1:50 left
waiving it off... grrrrr...
May be waved off.
Refs saying it was kicked in ... :-(
Goal disallowed - Kicked in! Damn!!
"Judging by the reaction of this crowd I don't this [CU goal reversal] is going to come" - announcers. correction, no goal.
no goal, kicked in(?) :-(
just another reason to hate mr. hansen :-( :-( :-(
On the bright side, Dartmouth just went up 1-0 on Harvard, late.
1:24 left in reg.
Who would have thought this might become a very interesting game?
Both teams with pressure end to end.
Crummy way to win the East, backing in with a tie and a Harvard loss. We'll see.
Sucks ties it at 1.
Bill we still have minutes of OT, and Cornell has really picked up its play that period. I say there is a decent chance that we will win in OT
bill IIRC we've backed into our last two ivy championships

Sucks 0[/q]Was our good friend Noah Welch on the ice for the goal? That would be nice.
1:00 to go, Harvard tied Dartmouth 1-1.
OT in Hanover.
game on
We can still win or lose. Harvard can still win or lose. Nothing is decided. Get it?
Fuck it, here comes the overtime in realtime, I'll do my best.
Wow Clarkson scores with 1 sec left to tie Colgate, they are now in OT.
Any explanation for the audio-less folks???
Edit:oops, didn't realize the thread went to a 2nd page.
Agree we could do it in OT. Cornell sounds energized the last 5 mins.
Carefoot takes a shot blocked; feeds Iggy but McKenna kicks wide, Cook holds it in. SLU rushes the other side and McKee dives and covers. So, :30 of Cornell action, then one SLU rush. Whew. My fingers hurt.
4:20 left ... SLU(t) rush, save McKee
Abott picks off the SLU faceoff win and feeds Downs...
Topher and O'Byrne on against Trevelyan (um, ok), then the quick change has the 1st line on with Moulson and Bitz. 3:22 in the o.t.
SLU wins the draw; Gleed breaks it up anhd sends it in; Moulson and Hunes in pursuit; big save by McKenna - that could have won it (again) right there.
Faceoff in SLU left circle, 3:01 in o.t. Downs/O'Byrne/Iggy/Knop/Care on ice.
Dart-Hvd now start o.t.
lol, SLU annoncers are ripping Hansen for the no call on Moulson, they should be still thanking him that he waived off the Cornell goal
GOAL!!!!
Knoepfli!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cornell goal in OT: Knoepfli. Cornell wins 3-2.
WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!
Carefoot digging in the corners to pull the pukc out; feeds K and GOAL!!!!!! wE WIN!!!!!!
WOO HOO!!!!!
They're not waving this one off!!!!!!
3-2, Cornell!
KNOEPFLI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That gives Cornell the ECAC RS title, now we're waiting on the Drt-Hvd game.
Cornell wins and, at almost the same instant, Dartmouth beats Harvard to secure Cornell the Ivy championship. Not a bad 5 seconds. :-D
Way to go RED!
I'm on a cruise ship in the middle of the Caribbean.
Isn't technology wonderful!
Thank you elynah.
LGR!!!:-) :-) :-)
You're not online by the minute, are you? That's dedication, man. Way to go. Does your wife or girlfriend know you're doing this?

Eh, its usually only 25 to 50 cents a minute. Just checking in for the final doesn't cost too much.
Yes, shipboard internet authorized by spouse. I didn't listen to the whole game in real time; just part of the second period while SLU was ahead and all of the overtime. It's cheaper than the casino!
Still, we admire you for having your priorities straight. Were you wearing your home or away game-worn-jersey when you went to check the scores?
