Title: Watching in NYC?
Post by: Reno on March 22, 2002, 11:03:16 AM

Is anybody planning to meet at a particular sports bar to watch Saturday's game in NYC?

I hope so!  What bar will be showing the game Sat. at 3:30?  The Cornell Club doesn't have the proper satellite hookup, just reg. cable.

 ::help::

Ask the Cornell Club if they get the YES network on their lameass cable....

Not likely, assuming their lameass cable is Cablevision

Didn't someone mention last week that a bar named Blondie's will put these games on if asked???

Where is that place?

Personally I was thinking of checking out Blondies. Almost went there for the Yale game, but something else came up. I was at Lake Placid so no need that week. So can I expect to see some other Cornell alumni there on Sat? Or another location?

Blondies is located at 212 W. 79th St. between Broadway and Amsterdam.

I'll go if we have to, but I'd rather go on the East side (I'm from LI).  Be there with my girl and my brother.

Reno,

Have you called blondies?  I think it would probably be a good idea for one of us to call today or tomorrow morning and tell them we're bringing people.

I too am looking for a place to watch the game in the city tomorrow©©© I just called Blondies and was told that they have no reason to believe they wouldn't put it on, but they won't know for sure until they "get their schedule" later today, whatever that means©  I'm guessing they need to see the total array of sporting events that are on at that time to see if college hockey can make the cut on one of their TVs©  I suggest everyone interested in going there call them so they know that there's a lot of interest©

I won't have access to the internet after work today, so I'll hope Blondies will put the game on and go there tomorrow. I'll also call and voice my interest.

I have to work during the Saturday game, but if we are fortunate enough to play on Sunday, I'll be heading to Ship of Fools (because it's close).

OK -

I call Blondies, they said that they definitely have the channel, and to call back tomorrow to request it, preferably in the AM/noontime hour (in other words, don't wait until 15 minutes before).

I'm also going to call ship of fools as it's much closer for me.

I live in Brooklyn, so I don't plan on making the trip uptown.  The Park Avenue Country Club (on the SE corner of 26th (27th?) & Park Ave. S.) was very accommodating for the ECAC finals (after the bball ended, they turned on the sound for the CU/HU game), and I am going to go back.  If anyone is interested in joining me, send me an email.  I will call about getting a table.

I don't plan on watching the Harvard/Maine game on Saturday - or the BU/whoever game on Sunday before (if?  ::worry:: ) Cornell plays UNH.

If Ship of Fools or Park Avenue Country Club is preferred, that sounds fine to me. I also live in Brooklyn, so the upper west side is a bit of a hike. It's only about 45 minutes to the upper east for me, so that's also good.

Ship of Fools will be showing the games this weekend.  I hope I'll have a reason to watch on Sunday and see some of you there!
Title: ESPN Zone

I saw the game at the Zone this afternoon.  We got lucky - front row seats in the Screening Room.  Planning to be there again tomorrow unless I find someone in NYC with a better situation.

I watched with Reno '01, Megan '01 and a group of '93s at PACC. They gave us the big screen until the bball started, and a good number of TVs even after the basketball was going on. B-]

Unfortunately, they got a little confused on the networks and we were watching the UMD-Niagara women's game for a little while thinking that it was between game filler.  When we got it straightened out, we had missed the first 7 minutes/2 goals. :-/

We will be back tomorrow.  LET'S GO RED!!!
