is it coincidence that no player has worn #3 in four years? no other number has gone unused for more than a year
Mike Stachurski, before he left the team, was #3.
What's the deal with Cornell not issuing numbers above 31? Is this the case, or is it just a coincidence? I didn't think it was a tradition thing, seeing as how other Ivies do it (Princeton has a #60 and #84... yeeeeeeee ::screwy:: )
I have no idea if Cornell allows numbers over 31 or not, but I know some people frown upon having "higher" numbers. It's seen as promoting yourself instead of the team. I wouldn't be suprised then if Cornell discouraged it.
Eddy Skazyk (39) was the last player to have a number higher than 31. I like having only traditional numbers (and not having a #13). Aside from pure ritual, it fits in with Schafer's kick of having current players make themselves aware of the legacy of those who wore the number before them.

And Moynihan wore it for 4 years from 97 to 2000.
