Does anyone know if the quarterfinal games will be broadcast on a network that we can receive on the West Coast on cable or satellite? I called our provider (Dish Network) and they are clueless. The only media coverage of college hockey that we get out here in the hinterlands, other than Internet sites, is the weekly column in the West Coast edition of the New York Times. ::help::
ECAC quarterfinals? I would bet you could get those online as with regular season home games.
The ECACs will likely be on Empire again, or something similar, which should be available on Dish and definitely is on DirecTV.
FYI, if you're gonna get a satellite for college hockey, last I knew only DirecTV carried CSTV.
Right now, the 2nd (late) semi-final and the Championship game of the ECACHL tournament from Albany is on CSTV's schedule for March 18-19. No word on Semi-Final #1.
Empire Sports Network is going under and will cease to exist as of March 7th.
Why is Empire going under?
Basically, a feud between Adelphia (Empire's owner) and Time Warner.

[Q]Haywood cited a decision made over a year ago by other New York state cable companies, including Time Warner, to remove Empire from its basic programming lineup and place the network on a pay tier as one significant reason for the network going out of business. That switch took from Adelphia hundreds of thousands of subscribers and millions of dollars in fees from those systems. The Sabres' deal costs Adelphia $8.5 million annually with production expenses added in.[/Q]
This is what CSTV plans to show during semifinal #1, which will involve the top remaining seed in the ECACHL tournament:
4:00 pm
Full Court Press
5:00 pm
Tourney Talk
Presented by Miller
6:30 pm
Coast2Coach
The Brian Gregory Show
7:00 pm
Coast2Coach
Dodge Lobos Coaches Show
Is there any chance CSTV can be convinced to show the first semifinal? The cameras, production staff, and announcers will already be in the Pepsi Arena.

Is that true? I thought the #1 seed played in the evening game, and the only reason Cornell played the early game two years ago was because Schafer requested it.
The #1 seed played the evening game during the years with the playin game, on the (correct) premise that it was unfair to make the #4/#5 winner come back and play the early game. Aside from those years it's always been the #1 seed's choice of games, which of course always means the early game for the top seed.
I think it's fair enough for #1 to play first. Assuming they win, the players shower and then show up to watch the 2nd semi for scouting their opponents.

I think there is. Originally CSTV was only scheduled to show the final.

Let's let them know they'll have an audience for game 1.

The last time I checked there was nothing on http://ecachockeyleague.com/ about TV coverage for the playoffs.
The Cornell Club of So. Cal. will have viewing events for whatever playoff games are on TV. If you're in So. Cal., interested, and have never received emails from me at your current email address, email me at howardm1@sbcglobal.net and I will put you on my list.
