Attendance could be very bad tonight with the roads being as bas as they are. Some of the roads around Cornell are totally closed.
The BC and UNH game for tonight has already been postponed till Monday. Any chance we might see some more postponements?

I hope so -- it's nasty travelling out there. I can always walk to the game, but it'd be nuts holding it tonight.
AIC vs. Bentley and Sacred Heart vs. Army have also been postponed, to Tuesday, Feb. 8; and Merrimack vs. Northeastern to Monday, Jan. 24.
Beeeej
I've been watching weather.com for ithaca, and they just dropped the forecasted snowfall for tonight to 3-5 inches, and its not snowing too hard. I'm guessing if they are gonna postpone it they would have to decide pretty soon.

UConn banned people from sleeping out last night for today's UConn-Pitt basketball game due to "severe weather and a potential for significant health hazards."
Let me put this in perspective. I went to the Co-op first thing Friday morning; there were 6 tents in front of Gampel Pavilion, presumably from Thursday night. It was 2 out.
That's hard core.
I'm inclined to say that since the Dartmouth and Vermont teams are already in Central New York and the same goes for RPI and Union, it makes sense to play the games rather than make the long drives home through the storm. *shrug*
The option would probably be postponement to Sunday afternoon, not cancellation. But as was noted, it should already have been announced if it was going to happen. There's no sense in everybody driving all the way to the rink just to find out the game's tomorrow.
Has anybody ever heard of a game being "pre-poned"? Say, for example, during baseball season there's a near certainty of a hurricane hitting a site on Sunday. A logical solution: move the Sunday game up to create a Saturday twinbill.
Does that ever happen?
Wasn't a Miami Dolphins game moved to a Saturday last fall?

Yes :-)
Connecticut 2 at Yale 6
that game is over already :)
well if you go to NAOO and check it out as of 3:00 the finger lakes are supposed to get 10-15 as the snow band will be much furthur north and east then expected.. 6-10 more expected before 1am..

OT question: Anyone know what I need to make the audio link (colgates) work on a mac? I'm running OS X 10.3 I think.
Guess that direct link posting maybe wasn't the best idea. The Vermont audio is dead...probably due to too many users.
Game on!
*cough* meant vermont really. I mean I paid so much for Cornell I have no room left for simple things like who we are playing tonight...... for shame.

Sorry, no clue here.
Union 1 SLU 0, early.
CU pp coming
-hooking-
UC 1 SLU 1
Cornell on pp #1.
Laek State doing better against MSU tonight. In last night's 8-0 loss, they gave up a goal in the first 3 minutes. Tonight MSU is held off the board until the 4th minute.
does everyone else have a "ready" under their volume for the uvm cast?
not getting anything, thought it would at least say playing or something
Clarkson 1 RPI 0
so i'm glad we're up and running ... BUT ... is it me or has the quality [EDIT: video] decreased since i2 Sports we're belly up?
anyone get this uvm cast to work or is it still down?
i tried the direct link http://www.sportsjuice.com/sjplayer/tpasx/14438.asx in wmp and wont work
[q]If you aren't .... you can list... game on the inter ... [/q]
No, not really.
what would interesting to find out is why cornell bothers to farm this out? geesh they have more than enough expertise on campus. they have the servers. they probably could get people to do the camera work for free. it would also mean they could do other sports pretty cheaply as well.. plus the profit margin would go way up if they really wanted to make money out of this..
The UVM webcast is real hit & miss....Unfortunately, more "miss" than "hit."
Krantz has *drawn* 2 penalties tonight. Neat. :-D
Cornell going on pp #2.
yeah i cant get the lowell game either. i think it may be my dads new computer. probably not set up right. will check back. LGR!
Maine and QC winning tonight. Ever little bit helps.
Matching penalties. Pokulok and ?. The feed keeps going in and out.
Plante. He got called for the dive.
Woohoo, we almost had a curtian call of the Lynah Bounce, but Russell saved Pegs' chance after a freak end board bounce.
What little I can make out sounds like Vermont's goalie just made 2 great saves.
[Q]Greg Berge Wrote:

How are you getting a good feed, Greg? Are you paying for Cornell's?
Really weird VT webcast. Anyone else getting 'rewind' sounds and repeat bursts of announcements? Gotta wonder what kinda back-end hardware these guys are running...
Wide blast by UVM on their first decent shot tonight. Shots are 9-7 Cornell in the closing seconds of the first.
Yes, I am on the CU pay feed.
End of 1, 0-0.
My first good run of broadcasting is for a Coldwell Banker commercial.
I'm getting the same thing here. I'm trying to listen to the UVM feed with two different computers, each with a different connection. Both SUCK!!
Topher Scott looks like Adam Oates on faceoffs!
Chris Abbott was flying all over the rink that period and i really liked the 4-4 line Coach had out there: Abbott, Abbott, Swada, and Downs.
Apparently the Gate-Green game is delayed because Dartmouth still has not arrived in Hamilton.
oppps ... ::screwy:: ::snore:: ::screwy::
snow??? what snow?
Comcast's showing CSTV broadcast of Michigan-OSU in high definition. Bit of a difference.
[Q]Greg Berge Wrote:

Very little excuse for not leaving Ithaca last night. I know that there won't be a forfeit called (and I don't want Colgate to get a forfeit anyway), but everyone knew that there was going to be a blizzard today.
sloppy play by both teams in neutral zone
UVM pp coming - Holding: O'Byrne
Vermont goes on their pp #1. "Reserved, O'Byrne."
My Gametrack still says we're 1:45 into the 2nd. What's the real time? How is period #2 going?
We're about 4 mins into the second, UVM is getting pressure on their pp. McKee a good save.
anyone else notice UVM's trendy black road tops? ::nut::
Cornell returns to full strength...
Yeah, as soon as I remark on Topher's faceoffs, he loses one clean leading to the penalty :-)
Brown 4 PC 0. Yikes.
UVM lots of pressure even strength. Announcers commenting on how well the Cats move the puck into the Red end -- not something many teams have done well this year.
Cornell going on pp #3.
GOAL! Moulson
is there an irc chat?
2 09:55 Cor pp Moulson 13 (Scott 10)
Topher has quietly crept up to 2nd on the team in assists and 4th in points, 1-10-11.
Maine, Michigan State, and QC all winning tonight.
what time did dart leave?it didnt start snowing until noonish.. they should have atleast left this morning since blizzard warnings were out for east of 81 today..
Centering the first PP unit does help. ;-)
hope they didn't have any trouble on the road from Ithaca to Hamilton
Interference on UVM
CU pp coming
Clk-RPI and UC-SLU each tied at 2-2.
Shots in 2nd period went from 1-5 Vermont to 13-5 Cornell. :-O
Noticed that, but UVM announcers saying it's a very even game excpet for the PPG. Are we taking control or are they right about the balance of the game?
It may be our announcers, but it seemed to me that the final 12 minutes of the second were *all* Cornell.
Agree, Greg. First eight minutes were kind of dicey, though.
BTW, Al, how's the snow on the Cape? We have about 3 inches here in Natick so far.
Dartmouth has entered the building.
SLU 4 UC 2
RPI 3 Clarkson 2
Cornell 1 Vermont 0
Brown 4 PC 0
rochester area has gotten about 6" since late last night ... looking for another 6"-10" by the end of this thing.
About 3" here, too, Bob. Expecting two feet or more.
Frederick County, MD has 5 inches, which the locals are calmly treating like a cross between a tsunami and a chemical weapon attack.
gotta love it when they bust out the garbage trucks as plows ::uhoh::
Hearing all those snow reports makes me glad i moved to florida last week.:-)
Central Iowa....a glaze of ice, no snow, but 61mph wind gusts.
not to mention the -5 degrees as an ambient air temp
Yep, same thing here in Arlington, VA. 4 inches and stores were closing. Ben, aren't the snow plows pathetic? They might as well use pickup trucks.
whenever i visit my family there i laugh when it snows ::laugh::
well, definately dont' miss that. I really appreciated being able to walk out to get my mail between the 1st and 2nd in a t-shirt and shorts.

Yeah the DC area sucks dealing with winter weather. An inch or more shuts everything down, and people cant drive at all with anything on the roads.
apparently there is a "weather delay" in Hamilton ... sissies:-D
Topher Scott just knocked Salmonella (sp?) off the puck -- at a height weight disadvantage of about 10/75. :-)
I think its Feminella. A less manly illness.
13" / 91lbs
Wasn't Feminella the sequel to Barbarella?
According to Gametracker, Cornell has 16 of the last 17 SOG. Red going on pp #5.
Greg... you are kepler on USCHO?
where in MD are you?
I'm in Columbia (as seen from the --.hocomd....)
SLU now destroying UC, 6-2.
SCOTT!!!!!
What a play!! Bitz to Scott.
GOAL SCOTT!
3 06:45 Cor pp Scott 2 (Bitz 7, Pokulok 7)
Cornell breaks the 30 SOG mark for the first time since the Princeton game on 12/4.

Pokulok deflection stops UVM from having a golden opportunity.
timeout UVM
time out UVM-elephant-walkers
1:46, faceoff in CU end.
Yikes, that was close on the ahead pass to Vermont.
Can the xmievents guy please turn the autofocus off. It is driving me crazy.
Time out UVM?
1:08 Russell still in.
:42
:28, UVM ices, Russell still stuck in net.
28 secs left, icing on UVM
Cornell 2 Vermont 1, final!
GAME! Big weekend, 9-0 at home
4. Point. Week. End. :-D :-D :-D
Looks like Ari got the scores right from this weekend, just the teams were reversed.
That was the worst game to listen too (stupid UVM feed:-( ). Thanks for the updates

I'll say it now... You were kinda wrong anyway, UVM's goals in the last game came in the 1st half of the 3rd, fyi. But still, you almost ruined it ;)

We have to limit our blame at some point. Unless you want to argue that cheer should never be done, then 7 minutes left in the 3rd seems perfecty appropriate to me. Its one thing to pull out the 'game over' chants/keys in a 1 goal game or with 4 minutes left, but its a different (and appropriate) to remind a team they've been impotent so far.
Never do the "... and you can't score" cheer with more than a minute left. That's just inviting a heaping, steaming plate of crow.

Slightly OT, but I've learned that "prepone" is a commonly used word among Indian speakers of English.

Yes, I searched for pre-pone on this site. And I did remember the discussion.

And another "pre-ponement". Oakland A's v. the Red Sox, double header on Saturday. Saturday game at noon, Sunday's game at 5 pm.
I hope those of you in the mid-Atlantic and Northeast stay safe. I am very thankful that Irene veered East and missed Miami and the east coast of FL (just a nice breeze today and a few more isolated showers). I really didn't want to pack up the research lab this week.
