Title: Alumni in the pros January '05
Post by: The Rancor on January 16, 2005, 03:24:31 PM
Lenny had 40 saves in a loss last night, and Doug Murry had his second goal of the year in a win against Syracuse.

Leneveu and Ryan Miller are squaring off again tonight.  After 2 periods, the game is tied 1-1.  Lenny has stopped 20 of 21 shots, Miller 15 of 16.  Both goals were scored on the pp.

This is Leneveu's third start in a row, and he came in after the first period of the game before that. Not really sure why he was out for the games against Hartford, but it seems they are back to using Leneveu a bit more than Pelletier.

Apparently he had some kind of muscle sprain/strain that caused JMP to get most of the starts, and Frank Doyle was called up from the ECHL.. Guess Lenny's healthy again.

While neither of these players are in the pros, it's worth mentioning here.

Don't forget to vote for your favorite AHL All-Star.  Murray and Baby vs. Lenny, that would be very cool!

Title: Er... "Studmuffins of the ECHL"?

So, I was going to make a joke about Ian and Leorr Shtrom, but I wanted to check to make sure Burt was the goalie who was in that bruhaha, so I typed "Burt Shtrom" into Google.  And I got...

OK, I know, your eyes already burn from the pain.  But c'mon, here's what's out there and waiting, ladies:

Granted, he has a slight history of domestic violence.  And speaking of Anger Management Problems:

OTOH, this young man, from a fine institution, does not have a photo available:

But this one does:

Saw Murray in Cleveland, he looked tentative still but was playing well and had a couple of good checks.  I mentioned that I would bring back some extra Doug Murray bobbleheads but I was only able to get a couple of extras.  To make it as fair as possible I posted them up on ebay starting at $.99.  Whatever money that is made I will put towards my travel expenses.  I can bring it to the game following the auctions end so there are no shipping costs for Cornell fans.

Does anybody know why Stephen Baby has not been in the lineup?  He has been rather quiet this year and then his name disappeared from the lineup last week.

Well, the disappearing from the lineup could certainly be related to the being rather quiet this year.  No offense to Bâby, but 4 points in 39 games isn't exactly awe-inspiring.

In the games I've watched on TV, Baby hasn't had a whole lot of minutes, with no PP time.  On the plus side, he is +2, which is pretty good for a guy with only 4 points who has played in 39 games.  He does have 66 PIMs, so it's not like he's disappeared totally, and he's been in 39 of the team's 41 games.

I noticed that Tyler Kolarik ::asshole:: was brought up by the Syracuse Crunch today.

Chicago taking on Utah tonight....

Not a good night for LeNeveu, he was pulled after giving up 4 goals on 13 shots in the 1st period.

It has been a goodnight for Baby, however...he scored 2 of those 4 first period goals.

Edit:

JMP stopped 17 of 18 in relief of Lenny, but Chicago thumped Utah, 5-1.   Baby finished at +2 with 2 goals on 2 shots.

Ryan Vesce is now ranked 4th in Tier-II Swedish Elite League Scoring.  There are a few NHL players that he is playing against.  Specifically Montreal Canadiens rookie phenom Michael Ryder and Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Richard Jackman.  New York Islanders defenceman Kenny Jonnson is on is team, Rogle.

Let's hope some scouts have picked up on his ability and we can see him in North America (hopefully the NHL, if there is one) next year!

Kent Manderville is also playing somewhere in Sweden.

Yup. I'm pretty sure Kent's still in sunny coastal Timra ("Teemrowuh"), playing for Timra IK, a.k.a. the Red Eagles or "Red and White Dynamite" (some things never change) in Elitserien. Not a bad team. Their big studs are Zetterberg (Red Wings), one of the Elite League's leading scorers, and Finnish goalie Kiprusoff (Flames). I think they landed the Red Wings' Tomas Holmstrom too.
