RPI will be up 5x3 for :48 after penalties to O'Byrne and Gleed.
RPI's leading goal scorer, Kirk MacDonald, is not playing tonight. Cam is out again, too.
One man back. RPI has the #17 pp in the country.
Is anyone getting the live feed from real Player? Mine says, "Please tune back during broadcast hours.":-/

What is with all these penalties? Don't know why I shouldn't believe the RPI announcers--who have always seemed pretty straight--when they say O'Byrne's was obvious.
back to 5x5...good kill
Second man back -- good kill. Cornell 'cast didn't contest either call.
kaaren, I am getting the feed fine. Be sure you're hitting the correct link and reload.
[Q]Greg Berge Wrote:

RPI announcers said Schafer was complaining.
I have always had trouble with the Windows Media feed (and do again tonight), but the RealPlayer feed always comes through.
Is Jayson Moy still doing color on the RPI 'casts? Good guy -- used to be a hockey-l mainstay, back when we were young(er).
Pegoraro!
PEGS!!
Man, we haven't scored first yet this year ;)
1 06:23 Cor Pegoraro 4 (Scott 7)
We want more.
Got it Greg...just in time to hear Pegs score!!!!!!!!!!!!!:-D
LGR!!!!

Neither Jayson Moy nor Kurt Stutt are doing the broadcasts any more. :-/ Instead we have Norm MacDonald on PbP and Special Ed on color.
Cornell goes on the 4 x 3 pp
CU goes on pp, but our play was blown dead (incorrectly?) immediately prior to Moulson scoring.
According to the RPI broadcast, the skater for McKee got on the ice too soon. If that was the case, I can't see how it's not too many men, but whatever.
I think that play was something like a 2 on 1 for Cornell, with a delayed PP against RPI, but the extra man jumped on the ice before McKee got to the bench, leading to a too many men against us? Apparently they're being strict about that this year???
Or I'm totally off.
Edit: Right Jeff, wouldn't that have been a too many men? It wasn't apparently, but they blew it dead anyway. I'm very confused. Or perhaps the RPI broadcasters are just full of B.S. and if was just offsides.
It must have just been an offsides, it's the only thing that makes sense.
Even strength again. Despite all the early pp's, no ppg yet (RPI 0x2, Cornell 0x1).
Jets miss a FG with 2:00 to go; still 17-17.
Roethlisberger with a bad pass. Jets get another chance - they've got the ball on the Steelers 33.
Jet interception gives them the ball inside the Pgh 35.
[Q]Greg Berge Wrote:

Then pick off the Steelers on the next play and have the ball on the Steelers 33 w/ 1:46 to go
Meanwhile back at RPI, 2 1/2 minutes left in the first.
Have the Jets won a playoff game since Joe Willy? :-D
Neutral zone action at Houston -- neither team with any good chances.
The Jets won last week.
[Q]Greg Berge Wrote:

Can't think of a better time to do it.
Have they won 2 in one year since Him?
Cook!
COOK!!
2-0 with 6.7 seconds left in the first!
COOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Charlie Cook scores with 6 seconds left!
2-0 Big Red!
Ooh - sucks to be that guy. Not quite as bad as say, missing an extra point to LOSE a game, but still...
I think the announcers said the Jets won two playoff games in a row in 1983.
Scores from around the league:
Cornell 2, RPI 0, end 1
SLU 3, Clarkson 0, end 1
Dartmouth 0, Vermont 0, mid 1
Colgate 1, Union 0, end 1
UNH 2, Yale 0, late 1
Game on.
Martin in for Alford, and so we have maybe the first matchup of TX goalies in NCAA history.
RPI gets pp #3.
Lost the live feed and getting the same message..."Please tune back during broadcast hours." I'm about ready to scream!!!!! ::nut::

I think there are special provisions in the rules where if you substitute early for the goaltender, it's just a whistle and not a too many men penalty.
And Cornell now goes down 5x3 AGAIN (O'Byrne crosscheck).
kaaren, the feed is fine. Try rebooting your whole system.
O'Byrne gives a crosscheck - 5 x 3 RPI for 40 secs.
Another 5x3 for RPI as O'Byrne takes his 2nd x-check of the game.
NOW ANOTHER CALL ON CORNELL!!!! :-(
So, after Downs gets out we'll have another full 5x3.
Murphy sucks! Murphy sucks!
NcKee a big save an hold. Downs back. 1:16 to go on 5x3.
Downs clears. One rush at a time guys...
Cook blocks.
McKee saves.
:27 to go in 5x3.
RPI whiffs.
Knopefli blocks
Knoepfli clears.
O'Byrne back.
Carefoot skates it out.
:20 left on Pokulok.
EVEN STRENGTH.
Nice kill guys. Amazing.
RPI announcers said the third penalty could have been let go.
Steelers win. :-(
Despite the extended 5x3 (about 3 mins worth), Gametracker has just 4 SOG for RPI this period.

that was like the shortest pp ever :-)
Knoepfli, from Bitz & Hynes! 4-0 on the PP!
Faithful ripping the safety sieve!
RPI calls timeout!
RPI announcers saying Cornell's "setting picks, as they always do."
Another Big Red powerplay coming up...
Another RPI penalty.
This could get ugly.
Gametracker scores (all in 2nd):
Cornell 4 RPI 0
SLU 3 Clarkson 1
Colgate 1 Union 0
Dartmouth 0 Vermont 0
Cornell pp #3 upcoming.
Even strength. The #3 pp unit didn't sound too scary. ;-)
Dartmouth has taken a 1-0 lead in Burlington.
RPI back on the pp
Good shorthanded pressure from iggulden and knoepfli
Shots are 16-8. RPI has almost as many power plays as shots.
holding call against RPI. I can't tell if play is getting sloppy, or refs are just whistle happy.
Even-up call on RPI. Cornell has now killed 22 straight pp's.
Another Cornell PP.
hooking call on RPI. Big Red going on the 5x3 pp.
1:16 worth of 5x3 for Cornell.
SCORE!!!! 5-0 with 2 seconds left in the 2nd.
Hynes!!
Hynes!
Hynes scores with 2 seconds left!
5-0!
Go Red!
Cornell will open up the third with :58 seconds of pp left.
It took 16 seconds of 5x3 to score.
Shots through 2 periods are 19-8. pp's, so far, are RPI 0x7 Cornell 2x5 (with another pending).
Gametracker:
Cornell 5 RPI 0, end 2nd
SLU 4 Clarkson 1, 1:00 to go in 2nd
Colgate 1 Union 0, end 2nd
Dartmouth 1 Vermont 0, 6:20 to go in 2nd
13 powerplays in two periods? I vote that Murphy is whistle-happy!

i vote murphy just sucks but then again y'all knew that :-P
Per USCHO, UHN 7 Yale 2.
Yale was down 6-0. Ugh.
No argument from me :-D
Why does RPI play this strange music in between periods?

Somewhat off topic, I'm watchin UAA-Wisconsin on the dish (it's 1-1 near the end of the 1st). There was just a scrum that resulted in a bunch of penalties. They gave UW an extra penalty to create a PP for Anchorage. What's notable is that the ref is Don Adam (who you may remember from the frozen four) and when he was talking to the scorer about the penalties you could hear him say, "I don't know. I make this shit up as I go."
Here are the longest strings of unanswered Cornell goals since the beginning of the 2002-03 season:
13 ... 11/8/02-11/16/02
10 ... 11/22/02-11/30/02
09 ... 2/7/03-2/8/03
08 ... 1/5/03-1/17/03
08 ... 10/3/04-11/6/04
08 ... 11/27/04-12/3/04
07 ... 3/15/03-3/21/03
07 ... 11/08/03
07 ... 12/5/03-12/27/03
07 ... 2/6/04-2/13/04
Current streak is 07.
O'Byrne going back to the box...
.. and we kill it off. 0x7, 23 straight.
Also BC 1, BU 0 after 2
Killed off.
Good work by the PK.
Dartmouth all over Vermont tonight, 4-0. If the scores hold, Cornell will be #2 in the conference in pct behind Colgate.
And UNH is crushing Yale, 7-2 after 2. (Not worth watching excapt when there's a break in the BC-BU game.)
McKee another big save on Croxton. CU D letting Dave hang a bit.
CU to go on kill yet again.
Cornell gets their 9th kill.
Cornell returns to full strength
(and Clarkson still sucks!)
RPI:
9 power plays
11 shots on goal
Wow.
Pokulok and Green trade slashes. We don't need that.
after the matching minors, Krantz is called for boarding.
Cornell shorthanded again, 4x3.
McKee HUGE save!
Cornell 9x9 on PK tonight and 25 straight, radio says.
CU pp #6.
If I have the count correct, RPI has 10 pp's.
Cornell getting 9 or 10 penalties, that's not going to help us win games when we don't mount a five-goal offense. Now it's #10 with Sawada going off.
Charging on Sawada
Thank you, post!
Final 5-0
Great job by McKee, the kill, the D, the O... hell, great job by everybody. :-)
Opening the post-game thread.
Well, at least we continue our pattern of offensively shelling bad teams. Gives me hope that one of these days we may be able to make it effective against good teams as well.
Not bad to come away with a 4 point weekend, that's for sure.
I hope that many of our penalties are from scrappiness and toughness, but we simply can't succeed in March by taking 11 penalties against a team like BC or Minny.
Gotta be thrilled with a shutout and a 5 goal game however. Can't wait for next week!
It definitely was incorrect and the goal was legit because none of the players stopped. The linesman originally skated out from the boards as if we were offsides but they decided we weren't and had the faceoff at center ice. Poor call.
Just read the USCHO board http://board.uscho.com/showthread.php?t=45246&page=5&pp=20 about there being a special situation with goalies on a delayed call where it's not a too many men on the ice call but a stoppage...a new rule for me? It would make sense having the faceoff in the center circle...I took the center circle faceoff as an admission of mistake by the refs...man, I'm not doing well tonight.

From the NCAA Rule Book (which is a couple years old, but I'm guessing this rule hasn't changed).
"A goalkeeper may be changed for another player at any time under the
conditions of this section. When a goalkeeper leaves the goal area and proceeds
to the players’ bench for the purpose of substituting another player,
an on-ice official shall be responsible for seeing that the substitution is not
illegal because of the premature departure of the substitute from the bench
(before the goalkeeper is at the players’ bench and out of the play). If the
substitution is made prematurely, an on-ice official shall stop the play
immediately by blowing the whistle unless the nonoffending team has
possession of the puck, in which event the stoppage shall be delayed until
the puck changes hands. A time penalty shall not be assessed against the
team making the premature substitution.
FACE-OFFâ€"Center face-off spot. When play has stopped with the puck
in the offending team’s defending half of the ice, the faceoff
shall take place at the point of the stoppage of play."
thanks for the ::help::, Ben! B-]
