They're in the nominating phase. Are we shamelessly nominating McKee, Hynes, and Moulson?

What about Topher?

I was thinking he's only a frosh. But then, there's no limit to the number of players you can nominate.
Maybe Pokuluk too?
I also nominated some of my favorite opponents like Brad Zancanaro (the midget) from BU ;-)
Someone want to start www.topherforhobey.com? Would it be less redundant to
less redundant to write www.topherhobey.com?

I'm impressed with the midget. I want to see him square off against Topher.
:-D I wonder which pair of shorts are closer to the ice. I actually think Zancanaro looks taller but that may be because his body has filled out.

Topher may also be standing next to taller guys.
Maybe instead we could please the woofing gods by nominating players at other schools?
You can't please the woofing gods. They are fickle and cruel. You can only hope to not anger them.
I forgot the spirit of Stuff for Hobey. Go ahead and nominate the whole team. I just did. :-P
25 nominations are needed to advance
McKee currently needs 2 more nominations
Hynes currently needs 9 more nominations
Moulson currently needs 10 more nominations
Pokulok currently needs 13 more nominations
The top two nominees are:
388 Ryan Potulny Minnesota F So.
277 Kellen Briggs Minnesota G So.
Cornell fans are getting embarrassed! ::help::
Looks like McKee and Moulson each recently got an additional vote. I did notice both Chabot and Davenport with 3 votes each...

One of them is from me. As mentioned above, I nominated the entire team in the true spirit of Stuff for Hobey.
I just voted for about a dozen players.
Current Tallies:
McKee 29
Moulson 21
Hynes 19
Pokoluk 17
You need 25 to advance.
Vote early, vote often.
For some reason I just felt compelled to vote for Mike Iggulden :)
Speaking of the Hobey... Tonight was the first-ever head-to-head matchup between Dave LeNeveu (Utah) and 2002 (EDIT: 2001) Hobey winner and Michigan State alum Ryan Miller (Rochester). LeNeveu made 40 saves on 43 shots in a losing effort, while Miller stopped 22 of 23.
Also, Thomas Vanek scored one of Rochester's goals.

Milller won in '01. Jordan Leopold won it in '02.
Some team they have in Utah... they give up 30 shots a game and have exactly zero players who've played more than one game with a positive +/-... they're only 8 points behind the second worst team in the AHL.
Hey, Bill Mikkelson was -81 for the Caps in 1975, and he may have been the best player on the team... :-P

Or you could just have Diebold tally the votes....
...because, after all, questioning how Fairview Park, Ohio had 138% voter turnout is just unpatriotic partisanship, right?

I was at the game tonight and thought Lenny played as well as anyone could have asked. His team isn't as bad as their record would suggest ... just their defense. Keep in mind that Rochester is "so hot right now" and Utah just isn't ... well, anything close.
Of his three GA, the only one he should/could have had was the Vanek goal. He battled on the end boards (and of course won b/c Utah's defense sucks) .... wraped around from directly behind the net and beat Dave five-hole. He was as usual, in perfect position, he just didn't get his stick down in time. You could tell he was upset with this one b/c he paused after and looked to replay it as if to say, "I should have had that." His other two GAA were highlight reel goals: the first was a tic-tac-toe passing play that was burried through the back of the net and Lenny came arcoss the net so fast/hard he took the net off the moorings; the second one was a perfect 2-1 breakaway that ended up roofed over his sliding right pad. All-in-all it was a good game and I'm glad I got a chance to see him play. Not sure if I'll be there again on Sunday but I'll let y'all know what happens if i do go.
BTW ... Miller was for the most part solid but his one GA was a bit soft. Vanek OTOH was at the very least as impressive as he was when we saw him in Buffalo and I think it's safe to say last nights competition is a wee bit stiffer. He still looks like a potential NHL superstar (assuming we ever have another NHL) . ::help:: :`(
I'm guessing we've got four more hours in the Nominating Phase...
Sasha Pokulok needs 3 more votes to qualify for the next round and Knoepfli needs 5 more! Come on guys! Help some brothers out! RPI players have more votes than McKee, our top vote getter! :-(
Great response! Sasha and Knoepfli are in! Cam Abbott, Topher Scott, and Jeremy Downs are next! :-D
http://hobeybaker.com/
Cam needs just one more! Downs and Scott need 5. Roust your friends and get em to the polls!

I'm especially happy that McKee has now passed the RIP scrubs. :-( :-( :-D
Sawada needs 8 more...how can you not vote for a guy that hits like that? ;-)
I'm assuming there are two more hours of nominating left...
Round 2 begins. 8 Cornell players made it:
Cam Abbott
Cook
Downs
Hynes
Knoepfli
McKee
Moulson
Scott

8 Cornell
4 Harvard
3 RPI
3 Vermont
1 Colgate
1 Dartmouth
1 Princeton
0 Brown
0 Clarkson
0 St. Lawrence
0 Union
0 Yale
If Welch makes it very far in the voting, I am going to be very upset. GOON!
The leading vote getters for Cornell so far in order are McKee, Moulson, and Knoepfli (w/only 3 but its early). So vote daily damn it!!!!!
If, hypothetically, everybody voted 1. McKee, 2. Hynes, 3. Moulson (though personally I would reverse 3. and 2.), every day, is there really any chance that such a small contingent, no make any diference? To put it in perspective, when McKee had 74 votes in the first round, Sertich had about 600.
Murphy, MTU, 181 leading (3 of the top 4 are MTU, they're stuffing better than anybody else so far...)
44 McKee
31 Moulson
9 Hynes
6 Knoepfli
4 Cook
2 Pokulok
2 Scott
How many, if any, ECAC(HL) players have every won the Hobey?
[Q]How many, if any, ECAC(HL) players have every won the Hobey?[/Q]
Looks like only 3. Harvard players won it 3 times in the 80s
http://www.hobeybaker.com/history/winners.htm
It doesn't hurt 'em that they only have four players on the list to split their votes amongst. We can be proud of having eight, but it may mean our votes get diluted. I'm not saying everybody has to or even should vote for three guys in particular, but it's certainly a danger that a vote for Topher puts McKee further out of the running.
It's also important to remember, though, that the fans' collective vote counts for one out of 59 votes for Hobey, so as exciting as it can be, it may not have much to do with anything. :-{)}

It doesn't mean much in terms of the award but it does give the fan base some respect. Another notch on our belt... ;-)

Just to clarify since he seems to be missed here and on USCHO (scout rankings), Pokulok also made it, as you noted in your standings post.
So Cornell had 9 players make it. Hooray!
The coolest thing about getting Cam Abbott into the second round is having a Cornell player on the top of the voting page!
I'm going to be voting 1. McKee 2. Moulson 3. Hynes
840 Murphy
...
471 McKee
186 Moulson
71 Hynes
McKee is currently fifth in fan voting ::banana:: Keep it up!
