I'm heading to the game at Lynah East. Just wondering if anyone from Cornell has ever brought fish to the game like we do at the real Lynah? I missed the game this year for a job interview and have a hankering to throw fish still...but of course wouldnt do it if it would cost us a penalty or was looked down upon (by fellow Cornell fans...screw Harvard ones)
I wouldn't try it. Seems like a sure-fire way to invoke the wrath of the Harvard security crew and get yourself booted from the game, not to mention the team would probably be assessed a penalty. We can get away with the fish at Lynah because we are on friendly ground... I think you'd find the Harvard management much less accommodating to such shenanigans.
Cool. Thanks, just checking :)
Agreed, throwing things is a bad tradition to try to take on the road. I have vivid memories of the RPI... ushers? security force? God knows what they were, but they were extremely displeased one year when some Cornell fans attempted to do the newspaper thing at Houston. Pointing out that none of the newspapers came anywhere near the ice didn't defuse the situation either.
Hell, I almost got thrown out of RPI for tossing a hat. (Dammit, I'm still sure it was Baby's goal...)
Think of it this way: what would be the reaction if Union did their tennis ball thing at Lynah? Eek.
Nothing good would come of it, even if, as we all know, Bright is just another home game. ;-)
you can't even throw newspapers on the ice here (cambridge)

"Even"? I think it'd be pretty presumptuous of us to think we could throw newspapers on the ice anywhere other than Lynah and not incur a penalty for our team or get thrown out of the arena (or at least warned).
Not to say that there aren't always a few newbies (I hesitate to call them "facetimers" when they've made a roadtrip) who don't realize this and have to be warned...

Don't throw anything on the ice (except hats) on the road. Throw your newspapers at your friends.
Unless you want to wear Harvard shirts, throw fish on the Cornell side, run like hell, and hope Cornell converts on the PP.
yeah it is fun beaning friends with papers. or you can throw them at annoying 'gate drunkards who always try to infiltrate the CU section when u go to 'gate :)
