Not that I am complaining, but it seems to me that Harvard (sucks) should be in 9 and that we should hold steady around 12. It is not like we did much this last week other then practice......
Man, we should just not play for the rest of the season, and we'll be #1 in no time. :-D
Is this the first time Cornell has been idle and has actually risen in the polls?
I think we may have risen last year in USCHO's poll during finals when we were idle. I do remember people commenting that we rose in INCH's poll because part of their "reason" was that the Cornell players did so well in their own skills competition. :-P
Uch, they don't deserve to be that high with the competition they have played so far. If they can have some success in the next four games, then they are worthy of top ten. The game at Harvard is getting pretty big though.
Anyone else pumped that four ECAC teams are ranked? When was the last time this happened?
The win at home against Harvard at the beginning of the season must have really factored into there minds. I really can't put us up that high either and we better be at the top of our game b/c everybody will be out for us now. ::crazy::
Actually 4 ECAC teams (all IVY) were ranked in the top 15 a year ago for at least a week.

Maybe Cornell rose because it did no bad this past week. A couple teams just ahead of Cornell lost, which Cornell didn't do, so you have to ding them.
9 vs. 5 in the Everblades Classic seems like we have a better chance than 12 playing 5. This should be good: The No. 5, 9, and 15 teams playing; only one unranked team. Cornell and BC are both wishing they'd drawn St. Cloud State in the opener so it could be (probably) Cornell-BC for the title.
If Ohio State hadn't bailed, it could have been 5-9-10-15.
The everblades has pretty consistently been one of the toughest Christmas tournaments. Not that that makes me feel any better about our overall record down there, but still...

And let's not forget the other usual "resident" of that tournament, OSU, is at #10/9. If they weren't hosting the Frozen Four this year, they'd be present as well. I can't remember if SCSU or BC was the team added to replace OSU this year.

I thought Ohio State bailed on the Florida College Classic (nee the Everblades College Classic) because they wanted to host their own holiday tournament, the Ohio Hockey Classic. (Can it really be called 'classic' if it's the first year of the tournament's existence?)
They did, and I think it was so they could place a bid for the NCAAs or something next year...if I remember correctly, Ohio State will be back next year, but I'm too lazy to figure out where I read this, despite the fact that I'm "studying" for a final and am searching for any way to procrastinate I can. :-P
The NCAA is requiring OSU to host a tournament before they host the Frozen Four. As practice if you will. Thus the Buckeyes host their own tourney this year instead of taking a Florida vacation...
speaking of the everblades tourney, it's interesting to note that a tie in this tourney brings up a shootout, not OT to advance (i forget if there is an OT period before said shootout). this could be interesting, since we generally are not a team that can score under a 5-minute pressure (the 03 BC and Harvard games being exceptions, yes), but we are probably very solid in penalty shots and goaltending on these shots.
Greg Hornby proved the Big Red can score in OT at least once a year when he put one in 2:30 into OT in the title game last year against (The) OSU. It would have gone to a shootout had it remained a 3-3 tie (in which case the game would be a tie for the purposes of seasons standings and any end of season power rankings) and if I recall OSU's best scorer, Paul Caponigri, had gotten a 10 minute misconduct at about 14:58 of the third period for mouthing off or something that doesn't get you tossed from the game, so he would have been back and eligible to take a crack at McKee.
I would say judging from the performance at the Red-White scrimmage and the results of the skills competition, we have a lot of trouble scoring in shootouts.
Yeah, I haven;t seen anyone at Cornell in years who I would consider to be good at shoot outs/penalty shots/breakaways. Well, other than the guys with the big sticks and pads...
