Brown-Quinnipiac
Yale-Brown
Harvard-Dartmouth
Cornell-Colgate
Princeton-Yale
SLU-Clarkson
OK, wait a minute, that makes no sense.... ;-)
I assume they meant:
Cornell-Colgate
RPI-Union
SLU-Clarkson
Dartmouth-Harvard
Princeton-Quinnipiac
Brown-Yale
Really? Since they had Brown paired with Q as the first listing, I figured they were going for:
Cornell-Colgate
Harvard-Dartmouth
Brown-Quinnipiac
Yale-Princeton
RPI-Union
Clarkson-SLU
Edit: Which would seem to make sense given that Hamden is (if only marginally) closer to Providence than New Haven is. Also breaks up fewer existing partnerships.
According to the USCHO thread, it is in fact Brown-Yale; Harvard-Dartmouth; Quinnipiac-Princeton. People are already complaining that it makes no sense.

Here's the section of the article:
(snip)
There’s a chance Quinnipiac could play all of its games at Ingalls.
The ECAC announced the Bobcats will join with Princeton as league travel partners. Yale, which has been paired with Princeton for more than a decade, will partner with Brown while Harvard and Dartmouth will match up starting next season.
McDonald said the school is close to securing the Hartford Civic Center for its inaugural ECAC home game against Harvard on Nov. 4, 2005. The Bobcats may also use the same venue to play host to Dartmouth the following evening.
If construction goes according to plan, Quinnipiac’s new 3,500-seat hockey arena is scheduled to open in January 2007 with a game against â€" who else â€" Yale
The obvious problem is that you either get two moderate-sized pairs (Brown-Yale and Q-Princeton) or one really close pair and one really far pair (Yale-Q and Brown-Princeton). There's no good solution, and I don't think any solution particularly makes sense. Then again, in the latter plan, it actually gives Princeton a sporting chance to do well in the conference. :-D

Well, it DOES make no sense. [/q]
Choosing Quinnipiac made no sense in the first place.
I think they decided to return to the old days of Yale-Brown, so long as they were returning to the old days of Harvard-Dartmouth. The difference is travel times between Hamden and New Haven is trivial. In fact, actually travel time wise, New Haven is probably close to both, since its on 95... from Hamden you're gonna have to go down to New Haven to get on 95 to head north to Brown, or south to Princeton. So travel-wise it was a wash.

Actually, Hamden is farther from Providence travelwise... by about 10 minutes.

The Connecticut contingent (well, me formerly, at least) strikes again ;-)
Alright, I'll certainly cede to the Connecticut folks on the travel time issue. The map I looked at made Hamden look (again, at best, marginally) closer to Providence, but that was pure as-the-crow-flies distance. If what you guys are saying is right, then this does make the most sense. (As opposed to, say, Yale-Quinnipiac and Brown-Princeton).
Having Yale and Quinnipiac in different pairings also allows for the possibility of QU using Yale's rink when they are on the road.
well, the harvard weekend certainly got a bit more interesting

And time consuming - for me anyway.

I assume the Yale women normally use Ingalls when the men are travelling.
[q]I assume the Yale women normally use Ingalls when the men are travelling. [/q]Depends on when their games are. Judging by this year, the Yale women already play their Saturday games at 4pm (looks like a standard ECAC thing) and have a couple of Sunday games. I can imagine a deal where the Yale women play Saturday/Sunday for a year or two, with Yale presumably getting payment or a part of the gate. Or else the opposite.
This makes no sense - the current system would split up 3 of the current partners, the following system would only split up 2.
Why not:
Cornell-Colgate (duh)
RPI-Union (duh)
SLU-Clarkson (duh)
Brown-Harvard (convenient for Southwest cheap tickets and only 1 hour apart)
Dartmouth-Yale
Princeton-Quinnipiac
The Dartmouth-Yale pair is only marginally farther than Dartmouth-Brown, and it keeps Harvard-Brown together.

Isn't the Ivy basketball pairing Harvard-Dartmouth and Yale-Brown already?

Personally, I was hoping for a Princeton-Dartmouth travel partnership. :-P
