hotels to consider depend on how much money you are willing to spend
i can give you the names of the hotels within walking distance of harvard sq and the stadium, but they will be very pricey. most likely, other posters will know of area hotels that may include some driving or a T-ride (mass. subway) to get to harvard sq.

see: the charles hotel, the sheraton commander, the harvard square hotel, the inn at harvard. both the charles and sheraton are very nice inside. i have only seen the other two in passing.

When visiting Harvard, one always stays at the Charles Hotel, 1 Bennett Street, at Harvard Square. The only exception would be if, say, you were paying for the room yourself.

What about the Double Tree?  Is it within walking distance?

arguably walkable, yes. though the area is over a minor highway (soldiers field pkwy) and is poorly lit at night. just as buffalo street to north campus is "walkable" as well. you might be better off getting something a lil farther away and hopping the T (mass transit) to harvard sq on the red line. it all really depends on your budget.

If its as utterly freezing as last year then its painful, but yes, walkable. If the wind chills stay sufficiently above 0, then its very walkable (like the Arts Quad to Lynah -ish).

harvard sq to the arena is a pretty standard walking distance in cambridge. not more than 15 mins

Just booked a couple rooms for the 7th and 8th at the Commander.  $49 per room per night.  (Umm..yeah.  I guess I should now mention that it's really nice sometimes to work for a hotel company :-) ).

Now I guess I just have to wait 3 months :`(

LET'S GO RED!
