I disagree. Good news for the league and since we will defeat Dartmouth with or without him, it won't affect Cornell at all. :-)

One of the most overrated forwards in memory.  Every time I've seen him, he's a non-factor.  The guy may be 6'5, but he is incredibly soft.  Also lacks considerable hockey sense.  He won't play in the NHL, IMO.

I tend to agree.  He is almost as bad as Nickerson: he can skate better, but he really can't score.

You guys are obviously only looking at anecdotal evidence from the 1 or 2 times you saw him play.  He averaged 1.38 points per game as a freshman, and right at 1 point per game as a more heavily targeted sophomore.  May Cornell be cursed with 5-6 forwards as "overrated" as Jessiman!

He has a lot of potential. He's big and while not a great skater moves well for a guy who is 6'5". He's also got a quick release and a heavy shot, but he needs to hit the net more.

He's too soft.  Nobody ever gives credit to his linemates.  Obviously, Jessiman is a very good forward.  A top 10 pick?  No way in hell.  His size is why everyone overrates him.  He plays with Mike Ouelette and Lee Stepniack to form the best line in the ECAC, yet nobody seems to recognize the other two guys on the line, who I think are both much better players than Jessiman.

It was Stepniack who was the all-american last year, not Jessiman -- so it's looks like at least a couple people have picked up on the other Dartmouth players. Obviously you can't tell if Jessiman will be a success in the NHL yet - but you're crazy if you think he isn't going to even make it to the league. Not only is he huge, but he skates extremely well for a college power forward. He isn't a refined hockey player yet, but if he were big, talented, AND polished -- he's certainly wouldn't be kicking it in Hanover next year.

I think he would be going pro if there wasn't so much labor uncertainty.  I remember an interview with him in which he said that he and the Rangers pretty much decided that he'd be up there for 2004-2005.  That being said, I'm surprised the Rangers wouldn't want him to develop in Hartford for a couple years.

Let's see: 6-foot-5, a foward getting a point a game, some observers think he needs more polish? Tell me this guy wouldn't have fit into a Mike Shafer system, or do we think Shafer is not the coach to bring along raw players

Maybe he still has a couple papers to finish. We've all had that nightmare, long after leaving campus.

All Ivy? Stempniak
All ECAC? Stempniak
All American? Stempniak
Captain this coming year? Stempniak
Player on the Hobey watchlist this year? Stempniak
Who did INCH call the best player in the ECAC for this coming year? Stempniak

You're right though, no one is giving him any credit whatsoever. ::rolleyes::
