When I went to the Saturday skate around at Lynah I noticed something very interesting about halfway through. The boys were working on their penalty kill, BUT they had Dougy playing forward and had Baby playing Defense! After the game I talked with a few of them after a couple cocktails at D-Bars and they told me that they had discussed using this strategy in Lake Placid. I guess our boy from Sweden used to dabble at the offensive position back in the day. Watch for this when we play RPI/Dartmouth because it will be a nice surprise for a lot of people.

Hell, I think he should play forward all the time. ::rolleyes::
Ya don't say, Age? ;-)
That's exactly my view also. Why do you think Dougy skated that puck up on the penalty kill the other night. He also knew not to pass it over to Baby because that rifle of his would fly right over the shoulder of that sieve! We need some more beauty goals like that eh!

i'm with age on the dougie issue(as i'm sure most of you know)
age - remind judy or i to share our dougie murray song with you at LP. i think that you're one of the few who might enjoy it.:-D
My son suggests that the band play the theme from Doug for Doug Murray. I don't know about the theme itselrf but if done they could whistle the song too, which would be cool.
Could Melissa please enlighten all as to the lyrics of her song and Marty as to the mysterious source of his song. What is the "theme from Doug"?
the doug murray song really needs to be sung to get the full effect. of course, it could just be one of those things that we find incredibly amusing but no one else does... :-P
"Doug" is a cartoon on Nickelodeon.
necessary in understanding the song is nicknaming doug "IPOTY" (sounds like dippity from the dippity doo dah song) based on his receiving the "Ivy Player of the Year" honors.
i agree with Judy on the necessity of hearing it sung. if you are goingt o placid i'd be more that happy to share it with you there.
Quotesounds like dippity from the dippity doo dah song
actually mel, it's like the disney song "zip-ity-do-dah" but you sing it to frosty the snowman. don't get it confused.
nope. not confused (except about it being zipity as opposed to dippity). knew that the tune didn't follow the same song...can't forget it when i can't get the damn song outta my head!:-D
I, for one, look forward to hearing Melissa sing it for us after a few Irish Wakes.
WARNING: not for die hard dougie murray fans or anyone who might be at risk for hearing loss ... this will only serve to induce early onset.
Sounds good to me.:-)
:-D If he's gonna score more SH GWG I'm all for it!!!!:-D
Where do you get Irish Wakes in Placid?
Where do you get Irish Wakes? Dunno. If none of you Wake-drinkers know how to make one, someone could grab the recipe card from the Chariot before we hit the road...
Is anyone else concerned about Murray playing forward? Not that I dont' like the idea, I'm sure bringing it out at this point in the season is a good idea.
It's gotta be better than Ryan Hughes playing defense.
personally i've always thought that dougie would make a better forward (make that a defensie forward) than a defenseman ( think Hornby). I am optimistic that things will work out just fine. The more I think about LP the better I feel. I know that the team is pumped, the fans all are pumped, and the coaching staff is pumped. It should be a great weekend of hockey with everyone at their very best. If this is the case the team SHOULD be able to come out on top.
I think the real question on this is whether Baby will be able to hold up on Defense?? When you think about it, this is when we are a man down and 3/4 of the time the puck is down in our zone. Our we really trying to score goals when we are a man down. On the other hand, I think we are that good that we can beat teams with only 4 players out there, right!!!
The traditional recipe is:
http://www.barnonedrinks.com/recipes/cocktails/i/irishwake.html
But that's not the drink that we get at the Chariot. What we get is - I believe - over ice pour 1 part vodka, 1 part Bailey's, 1 part Jameson's, fill with milk. Not entirely positive.

Is the Doug Murray song of such greatness as "Like a McCrae"? ::yark::
aw god. someone remembers that? damn!
nah. this one is a classic - but i have a feeling only judy and i will think so. hope no one is expecting too much - cause then it'll surely be a let down ( kinda like a good preview, turning into a movie that everyone is raving about and then when you see it you think, what the heck was all the fuss about?)
