Title: Cornell 4, Harvard 2
Post by: Tom Lento on February 02, 2002, 03:39:23 PM
Go Red!!!!

The Cornell women shocked Harvard at Bright last night, 4-2 (ENG) behind the strong goaltending of Liz Connelly.  The women have been steadily improving all season, and finally managed to beat one of the better teams in the league.

So I guess it's a 4 point hockey weekend for Cornell over Harvard.  Let's go for 4 more over Brown!  (Fat chance - the Brown women will probably dismantle Cornell, and the Brown men only beat ranked teams:-)) )

We beat Brown, but remember we are a ranked team (and likely to move up).

Tom said

, so I don't think he was referring to the women.

(Ed. note: After reading Tom's 2/3 post, I should probably be less snotty when I correct someone (good luck making that stick). I misread the point he was making.)

I must say, though I regret not seeing the webcam of the men's game against Harvard, the women's game against Harvard was well worth watching.  The team looked great, and the goaltending was superb.  The ENG slammed the door, and was a fitting close to a game that the Red really seemed to dominate (physically, too, I guess, given the number of penalties called against Cornell in the first two periods).

LGR,
Chris

So, to clarify - I was saying that Cornell taking 4 points from Brown was unlikely because:

The Brown women are very good, and have been much better than Cornell for about 4 years.

The Brown men only seem to beat ranked teams, and since Cornell (men) is a ranked team, it's more likely that the Brown men would win.

But we got 3 points, and the women's hockey team has suddenly moved within striking distance of a 5th place finish, and made themselves a long shot for home ice.  Go Red!!!!
