I'm not sure how this works. Is Leneveu going to be traded to the Utah Grizzlies the coyotes new ahl affiliate, or will he continue playing with the springfield falcons despite their affiliation with tampa?
The player's contract is with the NHL team, not the minor league team, so he is placed with one of the organization's farm teams if he's not going to make the show. Leneveu signed to play with the Phoenix organization, not with the Springfield Falcons. Springfield is where he was placed last year.
so i assume he got traded? or a change of affiliation with the team???
Lenny is still with Phoenix.
However, Springfield is no longer Phoenix's AHL affliate.
Thus, Lenny won't play in Springfield this season.
Unless of course Phx agreed to "loan" him to Springfield, which happens often in the minors.
Either way, for some reason, Utah plays the Atlantic Division quite a bit... they definitely played the Wolfpack a number of times this season... so there will still be opportunities to watch him play.
Lenny gets a good coach potentially:
[Q]The Phoenix Coyotes hired Hall of Fame goaltender Grant Fuhr to coach goaltenders on Thursday.
[/Q]
i dunno...does Fuhr have any experience teaching/coaching? Benoit Allaire is considered one of the best goaltending coaches in the game..seems like it might be a downgrade for Phoenix, and for Lenny.
Just read that Phoenix signed Brian Boucher to a one-year contract.
On July 6, the AHL announced its schedule template for next year. Here's who Utah will play:
