Remember Seinfield billed itself as the show "about nothing"? It looks as if we've pretty much reached Seinfeld status here. NHL playoffs are over, Denver is still NCAA champ for 10 more months, we've hashed over lacrosse, Nickerson's lawsuit has been analyzed by all the non-lawyers, we've dissed the Big Red bear logo, we've discussed whether to bring a window fan to reunion, we've analyzed Mazzoleni's Harvard departure, and we still don't know much about if/when/how Lynah will be reworked. I still show up every day for reasons I don't understand, knowing it's going to be pretty thin gruel, suspecting there won't be any more new pictures of the C-O-R-N-E-L-L navel squadron.
So what's left to discuss? How high Mitch Carefoot should go in the draft and does that mean the NHL or Cornell knows something the other doesn't?
Let's talk about possible members of the class of '09, in addition to Tyler Mugford who delayed his admission for a year.
My money's on Joe Bitz. Nanaimo new recruit and Byron's brother. Since we seem to recruit about 2/3 of the college eligible Clippers, it seems likely he'll end up at CU.
From Nanaimo's website.
----
Joseph Bitz. 6’1†190 lbs. A power forward right wing from Saskatoon who played with the Saskatoon Midgett AAA Contacts. Bitz was an integral part of the Contacts team who finished first overall in the Saskatchewan Midget League. “Joe is a gritty in your face guy who will compete and challenge for every puck and will definitely make life miserable for defenseman with his power and strength on the walls and going to the net,†says Coach Bestwick. Another character kid with a heart the size of the ‘Province’ who will be counted on to fill the void of departed Raymond Sawada.

also interesting is that Nanaimo has a d-man, Jared Seminoff, coming in from the Notre Dam e Hounds, the same team that Sasha Grenier-Pokulok played on. After McKee was recruited and essentially sent to Naniamo for a year when Leneveu was maybe coming back, I wonder if he's been recruited and sent to Nanaimo for seasoning?
Excellent: This is a new tack that could keep us going, at least until the draft news: Cornell players and recruits, how many degrees of separation, and how often does the thread run through British Columbia or just Nainamo, which I believe is the Vancouver Island team.
BTW one of the all-time beautiful places to be is Vancouver Island. At least in the summer.
Victoria is gorgeous in the summer, too. I was there for Canada Day (there is one) a few years ago. They sang rousing pro-Canadian songs (there are some), and afterwards somebody yelled, and I swear I am not making this up, "Take THAT, America!," and everybody cheered.
It was so cute.
Another Bitz, huh? Do the Clippers have anyone named Kibbles?
