Title: the broadcast of the game today...
Post by: jy3 on March 10, 2002, 01:20:42 AM
anyone else get a sometimes crappy feed of the game on TV?
i taped it and at times i get framefreezes and tracking nuttiness. thought it was the tape but the framefreezes have me believing it is the broadcast. i taped empire sports in syracuse.
just curious.

I got very similar problems.

We thought it might be tracking because our VCR didn't have manual tracking.

But I guess it was the broadcast.

I had similar problems, and I was watching the game in person at Lynah.

Could've been Vicodin after-effects, I suppose.   ::nut::

What you're describing sounds like satellite artifacts. In other words, small glitches in the telecast that crop up due to errors or interruptions in the satellite signal.

That could easily be accounted for by the high winds in Ithaca today messing with the aim of the transmitter dish.

am not quite aure what exactly a "monie" is. i meant "minutes". otherwise i'm with jy3. now with a second VCR I am capable of making copies of tapes so i would be willing to do so for others provided that they have the game. i realy can't believe even now how shitty the TW broadcast was. The USCHO article mentions how cool it was that the 6 seniors had the last shift on the ice. Judy and I hadn't noticed this and wanted to check for ourselves. Unfortunately that just isn't possible thanks to the crappy nature of the TW broadcast. Hey TW. Die. Drop Dead. You Suck!

I am supposed to have a copy tomorrow Melissa but I didn't make it.  A friend was to do it on a dish.  If it is a success I could copy it but I don't know how the quality will be if I make a copy on my machines.

The reason that I offer is that my office is in Latham and you could pick it up (as you live near Albany, correct?).

yes i do and if at any time this possibility becomes a reality then I would love you forever! it was so frustrating to come back to watch the game (after having seen it in person) and discover that you had a 3 hour tape of crap. don't know if you are going to placid marty but i am taking this 2nd VCR i bought up there and recording all the games. if you would like any of these ....:-)

The Ithaca cable broadcast was very badly broken up, with many periods of nothing.  I'll give TWC points for making the arrangements to get the rights to the broadcasts, and hope that next weekend, they can protect their investment by having someone monitor the quality of the signal they're passing along, and making some attempt at fixing problems that arise.
