Title: NCAAers to the Pros
Post by: Pete Godenschwager on March 24, 2004, 09:03:39 AM
UMass's Thomas Pock signed and played for the Rangers last night scoring a goal against the Penguins (that still counts as an NHL goal right?  ;-) )

Well the red-hot Penguins (unbeaten in 7 or something like that?) have beaten the Rangers twice in the last 3 days  ::help:: . I watched that game last night, and Sam and JD had lots of good things to say about Pock. And his goal was a terrific blast from just inside the blue line.

Well, I'm a life-long Ranger fan ad with their roster stocked with minor leaguers, do the Penguins wins count as NHL victories?   ::laugh::

The Rangers still haven't signed Umberger, right?

I don't think they have. He's not on Hartford or NY's roster.  Though, he did somehow get credited with a Rangers goal the on ESPN.com scores page yesterday. http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/scoreboard?date=20040323

Not sure how they messed that up, he's not playing for them, and the Rangers only scored 2 goals anyway.

During the Rangers game last night, Sam and JD talked about Umberger being a player to watch when the Rangers have their prospects camp up in Calgary over the summer. I'm pretty sure all the AHL playoff rosters have to be set by now, so if he's not down in Hartford, he won't be there this season at all.
