Yeah, but
a) it makes me feel better if they're actually good, as opposed to just flukey.
b) Colgate fans are drunken fratboys - at least in the North Country they love and appreciate their hockey (cause, it's that or stare at trees, but still)

Don't get me wrong, I do not love c'gate either.  Id rather see Dartmouth or Harvard win the conference title.  Colgate don't deserve the Whitelaw, and neither does Clarkson.

LETS GO DARTMOUTH!!!

Out of those choices, I'm solidly backing Clarkson.  Is there even a remote statistical chance that a Colgate consy win gets them a bid?

I'm rooting for Clarkson.  They were our prime rival in the late 90's, and are a quality team notwithstanding the behavior of a certain goon we all know and love. :-P  I'm firmly from the school of thought that one's true rival at any given time must be a team one respects and can root for without ill conscience should one's own team not be in the running.  Harvard is not that team, and neither is Dartmouth.

Cheers,
Kyle

quality teams do not finish in 9th place

Well, if Clarkson does win, then at least we'd have lost to the "champions" in the quarterfinal round...

Clarkson looked impressive tonight and Traylen is playing extremely well--they are not playing like a 9th place ECAC team.  The last thing I want is for the ECAC to have to deal with an embarrassment in the NCAA's but the way Clarkson, Harvard, and Dartmouth have been playing I think we'll be well represented.

I think I've tried almost every combination and can't get them a bid.  Best I've been able to do is 14th, but then the get knocked out by the extra auto qualifier.

Try this on for a way out possibility.  Give .02 for a quality road win, give .01 for a quality neutral win and see where the BIg Red is  now in D1 ratings.. Any chance..!!

Well, lets see...cornell finished much higher than "9th" so they were definitely a "quality team" for sure.   Everyone including me believed that all year.  But Clarkson beat them 2 of 3 at Lynah when it really counted.  Give them credit.

I was at the game Friday night and hope to get back up there for the final.  They earned the win by playing hard, disciplined and smart hockey.  They have won two series on the road, and have now defeated the top seed.  Sounds like quality to me.  They're peaking at the right time, it appears.  More quality.

Acknowledge it, don't be bitter.

So the Final pits #7 vs. #9.  Wasn't the "magic" seed in the old tournament format always #8?

And this is why we just don't hand the team that finishes in first (or 2nd :-/ ) the Championship.  Once again, the ECAC proves to be one damn competitive league.

The best post in the history of eLynah.  May it be exemplary.
Title: Deja vu
Post by: jtwcornell91 on March 20, 2004, 11:44:19 AM
This year's tournament reminds me of 1995, when Princeton and RPI upset Clarkson and Colgate to meet in the final.  I believe they both also won on the road in the quarterfinals, RPI knocking off Harvard and Princeton taking an epic three-game series (ask Adam about it) from Brown.  (I'm going to check the details, but I wanted to mention my impressions from memory.)
