Does anyone have any info on John Murphy, the ref? Any Backround of where he is from, where he played, etc...
I've heard he's into flower arranging...not that you heard it from me
I actually heard that he currently lives in Trumansburg.
not that we have any way of knowing, and i won't be there tonight but ...

have at it :-P ;-) :-P
not funny at all (the porn comment) to say that in a joking manner.
I'm not calling you out Ben...this phone number thing has just been boiling my blood since the last Clarkson game...
The phone number thing is getting out of hand. It is getting old. We are more original than this...at least be funny and do an email address or something different!
Adam,
i know you're not calling me out ... and i've only been to 3 games at lynah this year and none of which was the phone number thing done ... i can see how it is gettig old though. instead of the phone number someone could do his address ... i dunno just a thought.
ive been at every game. i sit in A. haven't heard the phone number thing in numerous weeks. definitely dartmouth, possibly rpi.

It's lived on at the other side of the rink, I'm really sorry to say.
Yes, please, let's kill the phone number chant here and now.
jy3,
you're probably right, that was in bad taste...though bad taste is funny to me. i changed it anyway.
Let's do social security numbers. Then credit card numbers. Maybe some day we can completely steal someone's identity. :-P That will learn 'em good.
Refs may suck, but they try their best (I ref soccer). Let's make fun of them, yell at them, and taunt them, but let's not pry into their personal lives.... even if he does beat his wife. :-D
Alex
Exactly. Some kid in G (?) I think, has been screaming out numbers the past few games.
haha! I really enjoyed the post, Alex! Amen.
i called those #'s from anywho.com, pretending to be someone from the cornell athletic office, and john murphy the ref is not at either of those residences.

This is sports, kids. Intruding into the real life of these people is totally unacceptable. Also, it's actionable.
thanks greg, you've saved us from ourselves yet again ... the voice of reason has spoken.
Greg Berge ('85) please get a life. Serioulsy, Murphy is a horrible official and if we want we should write to the ECAC and pursue any legal course of action we can to get him fired. He deserves it. And you deserve to go 15 minutes without posting to this board. Why don't you try making another website outlining how much of your time is spent devoted to ECAC hockey. Now that'd be constructive. After all it is just sports, we have real lives outside of this, or at least we're supposed to.
Thanks for reminding us, dad.
greg berge -- you really need to get the stick out of your butthole. i know of a great dr. in ithaca who specializes in removing things like this. he's a toolologist
We relieve stress by following sports. Relieving stress by stalking refs or getting them fired is what it is - illegal. There have been enough hitting and beatings of refs in the news that we shouldn't encourage it. No matter what a ref does - somebody thinks it's wrong, kind of like whatever you say, somebody thinks it's wrong.
is he going to be the ref tonight too? that will make me sad...
duh hes gonna be the reff tonight
ok...sorry...i didn't know...:-/
You guys need to grow up.. Murphy is Murphy, but he didn't send too many men on the ice!!
Gee, do myou think Murphy reaqds these posts. Gee, if he's as bad as we think he is, could he get back at us in anyway.. oh yeah.. reffing tonight's game.. let's make sure he could, not sayhing he will, but could read what some of you are saying about him.. Just like chanting season over when you got a game to play.. some people need to get a brain.

or jingling their keys when there is 4+ minutes to go...
but, if there is 2 things being a cornell fan has taught me, be nervous about OT, and disallowed/allowed goals are a pain.. especially with instant replay
Folks,
Unless you have years of playing and reffing under your belt, suggest not screaming too much about the official no matter who they are and how bad the calls... It's a waste of energy - - use the energy to cheer on the team - to positive effect.
Remember reffing any competitive level of hockey, the ref has to make a minimum of 170 + decisions in fractions of a second and do this while positioning himself correctly on the ice (with out any rest or substitiution through-out the game). I have done both and been booed and been congratualted but the game that is my best is the one where no one says a lot then I have been OK but not visible either way and the players have played the game! Murphy has made calls I didn't understand from where I sit in section N - but his angle on the ice is a different point of view.
And yes I jump up and boo when I don't agree with a call ... I'm human and so are the guys in the stripes; but then I cool off and try to cheer on the Big Red.
Last night I watched Murphy instruct his linesman part way through the game in a quick mini-conference and then shortly after that the linesman wound up whistling several penalties behind the play.... This was a good move by the officiating team.
Lets take real POSITIVE energy into the Lynah tonight and make the rafters shake with our noise and energy for the BIG RED! :-)

If the play was called then, CLK would not have had their first PP and that momentum in the first period.
That was really frustrating. That's the second time a puck hitting the netting hasn't been called this year. Last time was against either WMU or Bowling Green and they scored about 5 seconds later.
