To the Ranger fans out there: Canucks holdout R.J. Umberger was dealt to New York. He was a good one, so the Rangers should get him signed quickly. I still don't understand why Vancouver opted to lowball him.
Maybe Vancouver didn't think Umberger was enough of a goon for them.
Yeah, you know someone had to make the joke.

Or Springfield [ /Phoenix] was too late to claim him...
He's a pretty good prospect, so I'm sure the Rangers will find a way to ruin him or trade him away before he develops. :-(
hey at least you're original
Chris Bala, formerly of Harvard, was also traded yesterday - to Colorado, ironically; Steve Moore's team.

Not if he plays for the Wolf*Pack...
He is one of the best GM's in the league. Umberger wanted the rookie max with major bonuses. Burke is not gonna get bullied by some rookie who doesn't deserve what he's asking, so he made him sit. For the most part, Burke has been applauded for his actions in this case. This young kids are getting way too much money.

Most of the old ones, too.;-)
I'm not original, I'm realistic and cynical about the "direction" my team is headed.
Also traded yesterday was Keith Ballard, a U. Minnesota soph defenseman who many of us saw in the Frozen Four last year. Ballard was drafted in the first round by Buffalo last June, and has since been traded twice, first to Colorado and now to the Coyotes. He's looked really good to me both last year live and also this year on TV. His opposite point from last year, Paul Martin, has already been contributing very solid play for the Devils.
