Friends, Bears and other knawers (are we not carnivores?!) of RIP & Onion hockey bones,
If you noticed in my predictions, I decried Cornell 3, Union 0, even in the midst of a plea for Big Red Hockey to score "Four or More", I contend that my score prediction is quite consistent.
Why? When does 3..=..4? In hockey, of course! ::screwy::
Here's my hypothesis,
It is generally accepted that it takes more energy to score a goal than to play defense.
Offense is more planned (generally) to unfold than defense [which is strategically (macro) planned, but micro reactive to what offense does]
Therefore offense = goals scored (generally); and..........
It takes more energy to maintain a shutout than to allow a goal or two to score (more concentration, more determination, more longterm defensive reliability over the course of a game);
It takes a strategy to "fashion" a shutout - more micro strategy than a "normal" defensive posture, which is just meant to win the game.
Therefore..........,
* since a goal on offense = extra energy & strategy and ............
* a shutout on defense = extra energy & strategy... Then;
A defensive shutout = a goal scored by offense.
(It is only equivalent to one goal, because the offense can win the game
1-0). Thus
Therefore that makes my REAL prediction of the Union score to be 3 offensive goals scored + a defensive shutout (1) = equivalent aggregate score of 4-0 over Onion, thus keeping in sync with my constant "urging" for the Big Red to "score" four goals per game.
Conclusion: In hockey, "3 can = 4 !" :-D
Any takers?
Let's GO BIG REDddddddd, and Harvard Still SUCKS!!

I'm not sure that Dan Lynch enjoyed your rants on the radio this week as much as the Faithful do here. Hope to see you at the game tonight. LGR!
(And John, we can all attest to the serious natural endorphins that the Chief brings to the game without the need for pharmaceuticals of any kind. It's infectious and I can't wait for 7PM.)
Thanks, John,
I just couldn't let this RPI/union series go by without soem stem-winding, since it is a HHHHUUUUGGGGEEE set of games! :-P
