I missed most of the pregame. Does anyone know who is doing the pregame...it doesn't sound like Adam W...where is Adam W? Of course, maybe it's just some kid from Syracuse doing the pregame for i2...
i2sports is worth it just to be able to listen to the comments during radio commercial breaks!

Vesce 8 (Knoepfli 11)
2nd period
9:54 Hynes 8 (Cam Abbott 7, Bitz 12)
Hynes 9 (Moulson 14, Bitz 13)

Ed Bankin? Huh?
If someone could do the basketball updates in another thread, I'd really appreciate it!
Post Edited (02-13-04 18:59)
Hahahaha! He just said, when he was in commercial break but still on air with i2, that he was supposed to do the Cornell womens game against Princeton but that he was very happy to be doing this game instead. Yikes!
aaaaargh. Princeton isn't broadcasting the hockey game, only bball - and I am stuck at work. (No i2 here.) For as long as I listen, I'll listen to the basketball game and post.

Vesce is still out and McKee is in net
Lots of Princeton players looking into the student section taking deep breathes during the anthems! Awesome.
Nevermind. Can't listen to basketball either. I can't seem to open the file with Windows Media Player and my work computer doesn't have a RealPlayer.
Goal by Moulson five hole! A quick goal is new! Goalie should have stopped that one
Ryan Vesce is playing, albeit on the fourth line.
lines:

Yes!
Thanks for the update.
good catch, thanks
forechecking is doing a great job! Some heavy shoving took place after the ref called a penalty on Princeton...
two Tigers are now going to the Box...
We look huge compared to them, as usual
Hynes also goes to the box for hitting after the whistle...5 on 4
i lurk here all the time, but i just wanted to say thanks for all of you who keep us updated. i can't have radio here and don't get off work until the game is over, so eLynah is my only link to the game. kiss kiss!
Good movement, Moulson takes an early shot and their goalie holds on to the puck
More patience now...cross ice pass to Knoepfli finds him open and he shoots just wide...
Vesce scores! Top corner!

For those of us (like me) without a photographic memory, that is:
Abbott-Abbott-Hornby
Knoepfli-Iggulden-Carefoot
Moulson-Bitz-Hynes
Varteressian-Vesce-McCutcheon
Wallace-Cook
Downs-O'Byrne
Gleed
Salmela

Interference on O'Byrne

It is all good, Adam.
I apologize for the typo. 29 (Bitz) centers the Moulson-Hynes line.
I didn't list Salmela on a defense pair with Gleed because Evan has spent the beginning of this game on the pine.
Post Edited (02-13-04 19:22)
haha, for now it is!
Knoepfli kept the puck in the corner for a good 25 seconds while three Tigers were mauling him...great play!

I wasn't trying to be a wiseass, my mind just blanked on the probable correction. I've changed it up top.
back to full strength!
Cross ice pass to a wide open Hynes but he shoots just wide as he falls...
Cornell keeps the puck in the zone for a long while...Penalty on Tigers...Vesce goes down the slot and tries top corner again...no good
Cornell goes on the PP
Cornell is winning virtually all the battles for the puck along the boards.
Ed was gloating during the commercial that he got both goals on his mini disc and as long as Princeton doesn't score, he has the game winner...yikes!
Evan Salmela is playing left point on the second power-play unit.
poor line change almost results in a too many men and Princeton gets a 2 on 1 short handed chance but it's no good
more shoving after the whistle but the refs are quick to separate the players...couldn't tell who it was though
Penalty on Cornell, hitting from behind, is "questionable" according to Ed. Varteressian (ugh) is the goon
Post Edited (02-13-04 19:29)
Princeton does well keeping it in the zone but Cornell survives and kills the penalty
I can't do any more updates...Craig, can you take it from here?
Okay. 2:01 to play in the first period.
Paul Varteressian returns to the box for elbowing.
The period ends without a Princeton scoring opportunity. The Cornell forecheck caused Princeton to cough up the puck three times.
Brown 1 Union 0 after 1
Looks like Dave is dressed like a king tonight...tough to tell precisely though
Colgate 1 Yale 0
Vermont 1 Clarkson 0
Dartmouth 1 St Lawrence 1
Brown 1 Union 0
RPI 0 Harvard 0
basketball starts at 8pm, not 7pm like I thought
Folks ... Ed filled in for me once before ... He is formerly Princeton's guy ... Princeton doesn't broadcast their games anymore, so that's why you won't find a feed from them. He also used to broadcast Princeton men's basketball - thus his reference to that. ... I'll have to make sure to remind him again about the talking between breaks.
A little while after Cornell killed off the second Varteressian penalty, the Moulson-Bitz-Hynes line had a great shift. That has been followed by the Varteressian-Vesce-McCutcheon line putting on great pressure in the Princeton zone.
Thanks for saying hi, Adam! He's doing a good job! I enjoy the comments during the breaks...very entertaining listening to the behind the scenes work.
Cam Abbott scored on a rebound.
Edit: Shane Hynes got credited with the goal, with Cam Abbott assisting.
Post Edited (02-13-04 20:09)
Nice to see Mark McCutcheon forechecking aggressively and ultimately drawing a penalty.
6:11 left int he second period.
Shane Hynes banged a loose puck home.
Cornell is dominating thie game, especially this period.
point blank kick save by McKee with a minute left to keep the shutout going!
That was the first time David McKee was tested tonight.
Post Edited (02-13-04 20:23)
The second period is over. To Princeton's credit, it has exceeded Vermont's shot output last Saturday. Cornell is outshooting Princeton 26-11.

23-22 Princeton at the half
Greg Hornby got an elbowing penalty on the first shift of the third period.
Chris reports 28-23 with two left in the first, in favor of Princeton. Guess Ed was given the wrong time on the score...
Cornell kills the penalty without permitting a good Tiger scoring chance.
Grant Geockner-Zoeller put the Tigers on the board. Cornell tried to send Shane Hynes in on a breakaway, but turned the puck over instead.
Cornell has a 5x3 power play with 8 minutes to play.
Evan Salmela lit the lamp with a perfectly placed wrist shot one second before the first Princeton penalty was set to expire. This was his first NCAA goal and point.
Post Edited (02-13-04 21:03)
With about two minutes left, Bitz set up Moulson for Matt's second goal of the night.
I thought Bitz set it up too but they gave Hynes the first assist...
Game over. Cornell utterly dominate Princeton in all facets of the game tonight.
Rensselaer 3 at Harvard 2 F
Vermont 2 at Clarkson 0 F
Union 2 at Brown 2 3rd
Princeton 1 at Cornell 6 F
Dartmouth 2 at St. Lawrence 2 3rd
Yale 3 at Colgate 1 F
Union 2 Brown 2 F
Post Edited (02-13-04 21:25)
And Dartmouth 2 at St. Lawrence 2 F
besides McKee not getting a(nother) shutout, do we lose anything for allowing that goal?
QuoteLaura Schreiber wrote:

Well, McKee's other stats (SV%, GAA) are slightly worse than if he hadn't let the goal in, but otherwise, McKee did all he could.
I am VERY impressed with our play tonight!! 2nd period was a little weak, yet we were STILL scoring...
Nice to see.. I just love it. Keep it up REDDDDD
I wasn't able to attend tonight so was wondering whether Gita Fouladgar-Mercer ("Hockey Mom") was in attendance for her son's final game at Lynah? She is a great fan. An "era" ends with Sharam graduating.
Game was awesome! Team played hard and hustled. A bit better puck movement by PP units. Evan S. looked good making mostly good decisions and threw one really nice old fashioned hip check later in game.
I was worried by Ryan O. and Paul V. taking some unneeded penalties... As well as Greg H. getting called for elbowing right at beginning of third period. Ref seemed to call a fair and good game !!! :-)
Mckee looked good and the princeton goal was scored by good play and missed defense and quick pass to the open man.
Shane H. and Moulson and Bitz had a great game! John Gleed is looking more confident as season progresses - a big plus.
Only worry I saw was again we don't seem to be winning as many faceoffs as I'd like ... Ryan V. is obviously our best and after him there is a dropoff in the success rate.
Lets rock Lynah tonight - Go Big Red!
P.S. best wishes for speedy recovery to Dan G.
It's about time I posted my thoughts on the game. (I was working last night so I wasn't able to do so then.)
- It was nice to see Cornell thoroughly dominate a team at home. It's too bad that we can only do it over the bottom of the barrel of the conference (Vermont and Princeton).
- I love Vesce and hope he continues to get better, but I'm really starting to like the Moulson-Bitz-Hynes line. They were responsible for more than half of our goals in the game, after all. I think these three are working well together and I hope they can lead us to a rejuvenated offense in the postseason.
- Congrats to Salmela on his first collegiate goal!
- Varteressian took two stupid penalties that just didn't help things. What's worse is that he two in a row. Luckily Princeton's mostly powerless play couldn't capitalize on the opportunity. Still, if this happened against any other team, I'd be pissed as all hell.
- Now that we've bitchslapped Princeton, let's give Yale the same, or worse. LET'S GO RED!!!
anyone else think there were a ridiculous number of broken sticks in this game?
Tons
um young faithful hunnayyy i think youre trying too hard
Well there were a lot, it was more than noticeable to all of us.
